About A classic view of the Vermillion Lakes with Mount Rundle in the background. Banff National Park in Canada. Shot just before sunrise. My scanner (Minolta Dimage Scan Dual II) made the scan much too dark, so I had to brighten it up a bit, especially the snow, to make it look like the slide again.

And what a classic shot it is. This is flawless Arthur. Everything is in its place in the image and the detail is just magnificent. Breath-taking is a poor adjective to describe this image. Outstanding work.

This is the best photo I've seen in a long time. The composition from foreground to background is spectacular. I feel that you framed it perfectly, and that had you moved left or right you wouldn't achieve such a perfect foreground. This is a beauty. 10 out of 10 for sure. I wish it was mine.

Arthur, this is an expectional view of the Mt.Rundle area. Another photographer on this site (Kenneth Kwan) has many images of the Banff National Park and area. You've given me something to think about.. I've always shot Mt. Rundle with a sunset glow in the sky surrounding and light hitting the mountain, but never thought about getting there for the sunrise. (yes, I'm slow! *grin*) I'll have to get out to Banff a few more times for sunrises and see if any turn out. Where abouts are you located?

Now onto the shot... love the reflection in the lakes and the silhouette of the mountains gives a nice sense of balance and calmness. In a perfect world you'd be able to get out there after a new snowfall to capture this without the footprints in the snow, but as it stands now, it still blows me away. It's heading into my favorties as well.(10)

Wow! This is a stunner. I don't think I've given more than -3-4 images a 10 rating, but I see no reason not to do so here. Straight into my fav. file, too. A sure EC Award in your future for this one, I'll bet. Congrats in advance!!

Pete, I honestly don't remember if I used an ND filter on this one... silly eh? It was just such a chaotic sunset somehow, finding the right angles (there seemed to be so many) and filters were flying in and out of my pockets. On one hand, the sky isn't that much brighter than the sky, which would make you suspect an ND filter. On the other hand, the snow really needed to be brightened up in ps (partly due to the scanner, but also because it just wasn't that bright on the slide either). That would make you think that no filter was used... All in all, IF I used an ND filter here, it most likely is a 1 stop Grad ND filter. Thanks for making me think ;).

Did you use a ND on this? If so, which one?

What a picture! Wow. :-)

Very impressive colors in the sky and in the water reflections make this pic a great one. The mountain chain in the background is as beautiful as the whole picture. Added to my faves. You must be very happy to have the possibility to have taken the shot on a Velvia. Congrats.
