A really interesting photo, Simone. To me on my screen the crack looks like a gash oozing blood. (I guess I have an overactive imagination.) The strong contrast is really nice.

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique I like this as its so strongly graphic. The regular repeated diagonal striping give life with pattern and bright tones. Thye play well against the insistently centered diagonal of the crack.

But, for me, the image goes beyond being only patterned graphic. The uncertainty in the upper left anc center have an interestingly menacing presence.

Hi Simone,

Very ingenious photo. When I looked at it for the first time, the lines and textures created a bit of confusion, as I thought I was looking at a pedestrian crossing, painted on concrete slabs. (Part of me wanted to rotate the photo 90 degrees clockwise, and that part still does want to do that... See attached image, I think it changes the feel of this photo completely, and not for the better!)

Looking more closely, the texture fell into place, making the crack in the wood pop out. Great textures, and a very well composed close up, the white lines couldn't have been more important in any photo. Cool capture!

Just curious about why you changed this to B&W, I can imagine the colour version also is quite intersting...

Cheers,

Hugo
