About Although they didn't much come around our feeders this last summer, they did show up in another place nearby. We had a good time there and will go back this summer with the 500 and see what happens.

The setup uses a tripod with a Wimberley gimbaled head, on-camera flash and slave flash. The slave flash did not fire for this particular image. This was my fourth summer of shooting these beautiful creatures.

Here is a photo of the setup for this shot.

Fred -- Wow! This is a very impressive image. I've only begun to try photographing birds and my thus far failed efforts really lead me to respect what you've done here. Sharp focus on the eyes and head region. Were you shooting from some sort of a brace or were you handholding? Well done.

Hi Fred,

Great shot of this bird. It's a challenge to shoot fast birds in flight. The closer the more difficult. I wish you the best luck this summer, I'm sure you can make more.

Juast so clear with amazing detail for a fast bird. The colors really grab your attention but so do the wings, really letting you know how fast they are moving. Keep up the good work.
