I don't use a tripod for birds in flight. It's too hard to follow them. I use an AF Nikkor 75-300mm 1:4.5-5.6 Thanks for the comment.

Beautiful shot Janet.
He really has that pretty duck-smile.
I bet you were not more than 8 yards from this female Red-breasted Merganser!!
Did you take it from your vehicle?
It looks like Fort Desoto is getting better.
Hey, I almost forgot to remind you guys that it's the time of the year when you should visit the Saint Augustine Alligator Farm.
If you have the time, PLEASE, plan a weekend trip and I guarantee you won't regret.
If you are not 100% guarantee, your money back, LOL.
My buddy Steve Kaufman and his wife were the first people to let me know about this fantastic place.
Congratulations and keep them coming.

Really wonderful image well captured. We have blue herons in this area, but the plummage is definitely different -- not nearly as colorful and lush.

It is difficult for me to critique this image, whereas I have "no luck" at bird shots. Like idea and concept. Believe if You added a little "zip" into your colors it would help. A Border also Perhaps;)
