Ian, congrats!! Really like your self-effacing humor....I think it's the flailing arms that give the impression that you're doing a penguin impersonation. Aside from that, the shot is simply fantastic! Sooo much detail has been absorbed with the extended shutter speed, the night sky is dream-like, and the overall composition worthy of my wall! Love it, my friend... ...Brad

Ursula, I continue to be impressed with the unique quality of your close-up floral shots! They have such a distinctive flavor....with the muted, dark grey background that brilliantly exposes the beauty of the flower! I'm certain that it has to do with your exposure...likely a wide-open aperture and lightning shutter speed. Whatever your secret is, you use it in combination with a wonderful sense of perspective. I really love your frequent choice of shooting from ground level.... ambitious and imaginative. I respect and enjoy your work, Ursula, and appreciate your kind support... thanks! ....Brad

Hi Hugo, To me, this is a very Atypical image from you. I am much more accustomed to shots that play geometric elements with/against each other. I am impressed that your incredible eye functions equally well in the wilderness/landscape environment. This has an almost "divine" feel to it, with the bold sky seemingly "presenting" the rest of the composition... like a choral introduction! The uneven treeline sews the two halves of the shot together nicely, breaking up any hint of symmetry. A warm, wonderful image that says "goodness". Beautiful work, Hugo! ..Brad

Chuck, I've been on a sabatical from UF for a month, but wanted to acknowledge your kind comments. These places beg for attention, and I've found that if you are clever enough (or a crook), you can get in! When I return to UF, I will look forward to your images, which are some of the most nostalgic, and well explained on the site. Thank you, Chuck.. ..Brad

Thilo, I think your use of space is remarkable, here. The 10mm choice was the right one, here... and I agree, it does have that "looking up at the ominous and dizzying heights" War of the Worlds feel! I like the heavy saturation levels, and the grit that gives this that "Sci-Fi" feeling as well... Nicely done, my friend! ...Brad

Thilo, I absolutely love the wide angle perspective! That, combined with the creative and effective use of angles and lines makes for a terrific overall composition. The sun shining brightly in the background also creates a nifty "lack" of detail in the shadowed objects, lending an air of mystery... Outstanding work, my friend! ...Brad
