"Between gusts of wind"...bravo for your patience, the wind drives me NUTS in these situations. Wonderful sharp focus and clear background, the pose makes it look like it's suspended. Well done.

She's adorable. The white hair is blown out in this picture, but it kinda works for a neat effect. I'm just wishing all of the left ear had been included. Hairless in Edmonton...I hope you have lots of winter outfits for her. I'd be tempted to bundle her up in all kinds of cute jackets.

Nice sharp focus, good depth of field, lovely diagonal composition, nice saturation in the colours, good clean background, nice catch on the wet foliage and an angle that adds interest. Scouring this with a magnifying glass the only thing I can find to nitpick is that the far left top wing is a tad out of focus...but that's really nitpicking. Wonderful shot, well done.

I'm wishing it were a bit sharper so I could see more detail, that is one fascinating bizarre moth. Makes a neat picture though, I like the pattern.

That is just scary. Great lighting, creates a really dramatic effect. I think I'll go look at some snakes and spiders now to try to get this image out of my mind.

Thanks guys for the comments. Yes, I wish that the branch weren't touching the frame, I would have liked a wee bit of space there. The terrain is very rough, and there was a hundred foot drop off a cliff just to the left of me, so I was more concerned with my footing than with little details on a tree. There were boulders and bushes to the right, so couldn't move that direction either, just had to slip through where I could to get the shots. I was mainly trying to get some nice "record shots" for our field naturalist group of our sanctuary. This was one of those blue sky clear days where you could just go snap happy out there.

Nice catch. I've seen this a hundred times out my kitchen window, but can never get the camera in time to photograph it. And then it's usually about this time that the grackle who's been watching the robin diligently pull out the worm swoops down, knocks the robin aside, and takes off with the meal.

Nice. Makes me want to hop in the truck and take a drive out there.

Nice colours on the blossom and buds, nice soft background. Now you're making me more anxious waiting for the apple trees here to bloom, my neighbour has a big tree right next to my backyard that I'm looking forward to shoot.

Yes, they are becoming increasingly difficult to find, and are on "threatened" status here in Ontario. I just moved one off the highway north of Kingston a few days ago, but had a lunch gathering I was already late to get to so didn't have time to photograph it. There are a couple of surveys being done currently, the call has been put out through the nature list to report sightings of these and some other turtles, if you're interested contact me at damselfly747@yahoo.ca and I'll send you the information.

What a delightfully smug expression. I like the way this one breaks the general rule of having your subject looking into the larger space within the image, and works. I'm just wanting a couple of distracting bright spots in the background toned down.

Lovely dreamy colours, I really like this. There's just something about the arrangement, though, that bothers me...can't quite put my finger on it, but I think it's the left panel, I'm wanting a stronger form on the left. I'm wondering if the left and right panels were switched...just a nit. Well done.

I love the way the composition just draws your eye along the line of the bridge and off into the horizon. The lighting is also very nice, and interesting how the bright top is offset by the bottom. My only nit is this one is that little bright white spot to the left of the big stone in the lower third.

I see a lot of these "lonely tree on the horizon shots" and like most of them. What I like on this one is that exaggerated curve of the horizon line, and the catch of the cloud positions to make the tree stand out. The exposure is a little harsh, some strong contrasts, but that's typical of late winter/early spring season.

I really like the dramatic lighting and saturated colours in this. I'm not so sure on the framing, I think I would prefer a thinner all-around frame, the wide black bands top and bottom make it feel "squeezed" into a smaller view, I'm wanting this to be a wider vista. I'm also debating with myself about the composition, in a scene like this I would normally want to drop or raise that horizon line that runs through the center, but then looking at it, it would lose that effect of the rocks in the right third standing out against the background of that line of hills. In the time it would take to run up and down that hill to find the composition I was looking for I'd miss that great action of the rain coming down from the clouds.

Since the lighting conditions result in high contrast and darkening the landscape to the point where it's hard to make out the features, I would suggest raising the camera angle to make the main subject that nice cloud formation.

Thought I recognized our city hall. Those tulips should be back in bloom in a week or so, and the way the weather trend's been going this year, may be good for some blue sky shots in the background. Have you been to Lemoine Point in spring? In about another 3 weeks the trilliums will be out, there's large patches of them there in the woods.

Nice to see you're allowed to photograph them now. I have friends who toured China about 10 years ago, and photography in the museum was strictly forbidden. (Didn't stop them from putting the camera in the backback, on auto focus, and having a friend pop the shutter release.) Pretty sharp and clear for the conditions you were shooting in.

So I go to take a break from sorting receipts...and this pops up on screen. Great timing...hehehe... Back to the picture...I like the use of the selective focus on this one.

Mmmm....something I really miss from travelling south through the States this time of year is seeing the redwoods, dogwoods, and other trees and bushes in bloom during springtime. Thanks for sharing.

Nice dreamy soft tones. I like the way the diagonal of the shoreline and those two islands with faintly discernable distant shore make the centered position of the tree work. I love trees, and this shot really brings out the wonderful shape of this tree, making it look like two joined at the base, arching upwards gracefully, then joining together into soft embrace. The more I look at it, the more of a metaphor I see in it. The one side being larger and stronger, the other slimmer and more "feminine", then that whole "two becomes one theme. I could go on with a few more comments, but that would be risking sounding too artsy-fartsy, so I'll just stop and say that I love this one.

I really like the soft tones, and the way the composition includes that pattern that leads your eye to the back, and again across the foreground. The only thing I'm wanting is for the dark spot at the back to be a little more to the right, just a bit further away from the center. Nice shot.

I like this shot, it has an interesting perspective and composition, and there's nice sharp focus and good exposure on the leaf, but the blown out bits of sky in the background are too bright and distracting.

Okay, so where are the hobbits? Nice green tones, just wish that bright spot at the top weren't so strong. This one does make you feel like taking a relaxing stroll through the woods.

The simple subject and the composition are interesting, lots of potential here, but the blurred focus and blown out highlights in the background really detract from the image.
