Yes, Mel's got some great tips about using natural light

I, personally was drawn to this pic because of the depth of field. Good job with the background being out of focus so the attention is drawn to the guy. I also like him being off-centered. Well-done portrait.

I like it - good work on the background. It also looks like it is partially desaturated. Maybe not, but I like the look of it.

Yes I've seen him playing down there too. This is the better shot I think, keeping more of the street scene.

Another good portrait, but one can see the difference the step up in equipment did... Setup is good here but it just doesn't have the clarity of your later stuff.

Yes, light is excellent here, as is the exposure. Just playing with the distance to a window that does not have direct sun is an interesting exercise in what you can get. Found the sweet spot here :-)

I think if you moved around to where the post is, you might have had better lighting here. I'm sure there were some interesting expressions. This reminds me so much of my own family in Kentucky. We have family reunions at parks and I can't tell you how many card and domino games we play - lol. Besides ALL the food - OMG you could feed a freaking town with the food my family brings to reunions - they'll spend 24 hours smoking ribs/meat all in preperation for this one event. You've got a great piece of American life here.

Oh yes! You are in Nashville then?! I just posted on another pic asking if that was the batman building? ha! So funny. My sister is in college there now and I lived there as a child, now outside Memphis. Nice to "meet" another Tennesseean.

Are you in Nashville? Is this the bat building? I'm in Memphis (well, a suburb outside of it). If this isn't Nashville, it sure is ringer for one of their buildings. Love the colors here, just right.

You did a great job on this. It's very pretty. I just read what you wrote about you and I'm sitting here trying to figure out whether I'm one who is making pictures of my chess pieces...lol (Perhaps if I don't know, I must be...) You have an interesting portfolio. Very nice work. Antonia

Thanks Kelly for the comment. The kodak dx7630 that I own, takes great pictures and I have learned how to use its setting and function relatively well. Some of the complaints that I have are that it is hard to find any kodak accessories for this SOB. My little battery holder thingy inside of the camera broke off but the battery will stay inside as long as I keep the battery door closed. If the door should come open, out comes my battery and off goes my camera. The lenes attachment that I bought causes vignetting (sp?). Also, there is no manual focus. I can name a least a couple of features that I would give up just to have manual focus. Overall, the cam does take some pretty good pictures, especially compared to the camera that I was using before this one.

You asked how I did my border. Well, I did it using photoshop elements. Here is how, go to the rectangular marquee tool (hyphenated square) and use it to draw the border on your photo. Now go to the edit dropdown menu and select stroke. When the stroke window pops up, you will be able to adjust the color and pixel width. Make sure that you select center where is says location. Hope this helps.

One more thing...no, she did not call back. *lowering head*

Not bad, definitely unique lighting.

I lived in Nashville for several years, but never photographed much there. I may have to take a trip down and take some pictures, you've got the bug goin' in me now.

hello.. I love the city photos of the night, they create always one magical atmosphere and one beautiful company! in this case I appreciate also the sky that is not cleaned up "from the grain".. film seems the result of one! while the water mirror is perfect in close-up! a balanced and delicate contrast. also my best wsihes for the mainpage!
