Of the two, this one is certainly more dramatic and eye catching with a touch of class. The vingetting adds contrast to the colours and spotlighting to the bird in flight. I agree with Liz that the white circle poses a bit of a problem. If it is the Sun, it would have a less defined outline due to its brightness. If it is the Moon, it would be so much better with details showing as presenting this size, one would definately see details. That would look good. However, I'd suggest not a full Moon. As a full Moon rises at sunset and sets at sunrise, we don't see it this high in the sky when it is still bright enough to see that kind of detail in the bird.

This dog is in deep need of a hug and a kiss on the nose, I would not have been able to resist.

Nicely done Tracey, the idea is a good one and has turned out really well, gives a strong feeling of solitude and peace.

I am going to have to go back and see where you posted the original, so I can see the differences Trace. I do like the effect and the strong blue with the vignette works very well too..jsut the bright whiteness of the sun? or is it a moon is a bit distracting for me.
Nice image on the whole

Like the 'errie' feel to this. Well worked. I'd like to have seen the moon a bit sharper.

Hey Marty and thankyou I don't know about the hot bit but I like every other female I don't mind a compliment. I also thankyou for the info I wish I could get with someone who does studio photos that would be awesome.
I cheated a little I didn't have a backdrop just a dark wall but decided to make it all black I'm not much of a photo shop person but have just bought photoImpact 11 to play with so I'll see what I can do when I get the time to play with it.
You are doing really good lately just wish I had more time to sit on the computer, been out all weekend at coarses and then fire fighting...yes all the bushfires have begun and this drought has not helped a bit so I have my glass of red and a plate of fruit and nuts and here I am ready to look at photos and comment for the first time in a while, take care talk soon Trace..

the best: self portrait, no PS work and natural light, the better way to take a portrait. Real good composition

Trace,

You are hot indeed, sweetie. You just have very harsh lighting, so try using a circler diffuser in front of the window, or light source, the DOF is a bit deep. Try f/5.6 for a softer result and your way to close to the lens. Back off the zoom and use a wider angle focal length.

Also I would like to mention, that your back drop is way to close. The back drop we used Saturday was around 25 feet behind the model...

No, I'm not a pro yet, but the above info will make all the difference in the world regarding this post. As you know I want to get the capture the 1st time using the equipment and not using PS.

Your just as pretty as the girls I shot Saturday, but your lighting just plain blows. We used 1, 2 and 3 strobe head lighting techniques during the shoot... Email me and I'll bounce a couple of ideas off you...

See I told you I learned a lot off Darryl,

Marty
