Thanks again ya'll...

No not lighter or changed, just added the line around it. Amazing what a line will do!
Or maybe the site is doing things again! eek!
Stefan, I tried adding gradient, or clouds over there but was looking too much...it was late in the day, just gray sky I think.
Cherie no need to behave, go girl!

Resubmit or not, this is a cool image. The subject and the photographer obviously work well together.

Nice tones as noted. I find that the white-hot area on the left competes too much with his face. Good angle and pose.

You're such an artist Peta! How long do you spend on composition for these shots? They're magnificent. I was at the river the other day for Australia Day and sitting on an "esky" was Kevin, well it wasn't him but it looked like him. He was sitting there playing his guitar. Unfortunately he didn't like what I was photographing and told me to give him the camera so he could get some good shots but when I offered he changed his mind. As soon as I saw him though I thought of your work.

There are many possibilities of symbolism for the door and his relation to it. Beautiful b/w as many have already commented.

Peta,

Excellent. The tonal range is covered. The comp includes all elements (especially the address number which really appeals to me). The only thing that bugs me is the uneven baseline - I don't know if it sloped or not but it does throw me off. I struggle with it as many of the wall in our house aren't square so it makes it looks as if the image are off - I can never decide if I should straighten them or not. If it doesn't make the image look wierd I often do.

That said it is personal taste.

Mary

You really know how to set up a pose! Good capture on the expression too. Excellent, Peta!

ps The Flying Burrito Brothers were mostly ex-Byrds Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman. Made some hits in the late 60's - early 70's. You were probably still in diapers.

A subtle and wondrous capture. Love the off-kilter apprach. Compositionally, I might have suggested stepping back a foot or two so that you wouldn't have had to tilt the camera down to get both the guitar case and Kevin in the shot. An alternative would have been to get down on your knees and tilt up a bit. Maybe it sounds like I'm nitpicking, but the best work deserves to be nitpicked. :-) Wonderful eye.
