Just the right lighting to turn a simple scene into a wonderful image. My only nit is the horizon line is too close to the center, I'm wanting the bottom cropped off a bit. Very nice.

I rather liked the effect of the framing, a ragged edge for a ragged old tree. I love gnarly old trees, this one is intresting, shredded ribbons of tree clinging octopus-like to the rocks. Almost looks as though it could come to life and slither on down the hillside. Only thing that bothers me in this shot is the bright white cloud in the upper right, can't quite put my finger on it but it's messin' up the balance somehow.

This one really shows how well camoflaged they are in winter. I've just heard a prediction from a biologist that since the snows are higher this winter it will result in a boom for the bunnies this coming spring, they'll be able to reach food sources much higher than usual this winter, more food = bigger litters. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. I like the position you've caught this one in, with both big brown eyes looking your way, and that front paw out there.

Well worth the patience and setup to get this little guy, they never sit still! Nice sharp photo of a chickadee. The foreward bit of out-of-focus fence bothers me a bit as mentioned by others earlier, but it's got a wonderful dark clean background. Could you attach a branch to the fence, get the birds to land on it above the fence?

Lovely colours and shadows bringing out the texture of the ice and the rocks, and the penguin makes for a good focal point. Only thing that bothers me is on the upper right edge, those bits of dirt in the ice are a little distracting, I'm wanting to crop that side a bit. Did you try a vertical of the bird with its reflection in the water?

Nice action shot taken at angle we don't see very often. Well done.

Well worth the trek, as you say, superb lighting. I've tromped around in swampy areas this time of year and can appreciate the effort. Your eye is really drawn from the light foreground through the darkened trees to the hills and clouds in the distance, gives it very nice perspective and depth.

I like the way the trees are all leaning to the left, with the rail line running between, gives it an interesting perspective. I like the overall tones, and the whites in the picture aren't overblown. Very nice black and white image.

This is a neat shot. I like the way she's perched high up on a rock ledge, and she's oblivious to the surroundings, just intent on enjoying her lunch! LOL! The wisps of clouds really add to the sense of height.

Neat perspective. I'm wanting a tad more contrast and depth of field, but otherwise I like it. That lead goat with the bell looks like she thinks highly of herself.

Wonderful dramatic lighting, I love that there's that bit of land and boats in the distance, emphasizing the size of the huge size of the cloud, gives it great perspective. I also love that you've caught it at a time of day that brings out the red colours in the sky, also adding to the contrast and drama. Beautiful shot, PoD is well deserved. Congrats! -Chelsea

Thanks John and all who commented. These frost formations are great fun, I live in an older home with old windows where there's an endless variety of frost patterns on the coldest nights. If I gotta put with cold Canadian winters, then by golly I'm going to have some fun with it! ;-)

Really neat colours, love that dramatic sky. Interesting how the water is that cold green colour.

Well worth the climb, what an interesting scene. I'm just wanting to crop a bit off the bottom, that center bottom rock is a bit distracting. So...did you sit down and slide back down the talus? ;-)

Just having fun. Not bored with winter, just peeved that it's started early. Last few years we've been spoiled by warm weather until end of December. Oh well, if you can't beat it, shoot it!

Well worth the stop. Such incredible colours, contrasts and depths. Going to get up a few minutes earlier and make more such "stops"? ;-)

Great gloomy mood, makes me think Lord of the Rings when I look at this, half expect to see Gollum slithering around.

Beautiful dramatic lighting. The composition seems a little heavy to the right side, did you try any verticals of this scene?

LOL!! Can you imagine trying to feed this hungry brood? And can they stuff any more chicks in one nest! Composition is good, only thing I'm wanting here is a tad bit more sharpness.

You have a knack on timing and lighting, I love this. It reminds me of those old paintings of British and European countrysides.
