Thanks, Michele, I appreciate your comment. There is a substancial diffence between each of them, and that is what I was testing and illustrating.

Thanks for the comment Bill. We're actually experiencing a break in the winter weather, with the temperature expected to climb all the way to 0C tomorrow! Much better than the -20s we had last week.

The sepia tones certainly work well for this shot, Michele. They go with the atmosphere I think you were after.

Lovely scene of a forest in winter, Anca. Did you see any animal tracks in your travels?

Hi Michele. The angle of the sun made for interesting shadowplay on the seal, and you did a good job exposing the details on the dark side of him. The texture of his skin is well captured, exept the area in the direct, harsh sunlight. I think the overhead view works here.

Nessa, this certainly is a lonely feeling picture. Good effect with the snow as well. A surprising amount of detail in the trees, considering how dark this image is.

Luck may have been involved with the timing, Laurie, but you still spotted it and captured it well. The light, shadows, and textures are what stand out to me in this photo, and the image is certainly rustic. You may have done well to not cut the tip-top off the roof, but that does not take much away from this wonderful photo.

Very good landscape photo, Michele. I like where you've placed the meeting point of the lines created by the rocky hills and the sea/horizon. You've also captured enough of the sky and clouds to show a little drama in the image.

You could change the atmosphere of this picture by cropping the top - just above the portion of blue sky on the left side. I'm not suggesting this as an improvement, it would just change the image from 'moody' to 'classic.' I prefer moody anyway.

bye 4 now,
Jason.

Thanks, Riny.

It's like you read my mind - I was going to convert this picure to b&w to post it later. Here's a sneak preview:

This is an interesting image Kara. I find it has a bit of an abstract quality to it. Also, I think the b/w really puts a bit of an emphasis on the textures, especially the central tree.

Thanks for critiquing my photo, Viola. I agree regarding the sky - it would have been nice to capture some of the colour that was there. Unfortunately, I was unable to do that while still getting enough detail in the shadows - especially the model's face.
Best to you,
Jason.
