Nice Dynamics in this image. The combination of blurred and frozen movement lifts this image out of the ordinary category.
It's like being there.

Nice experiment. Created a very good effect. Especially that red thing (rose or whatever) in front of the tabby looks great. Cheers

Looks great Hermen, I like it a lot! I don't know why, but my pictures look more vivid when I open them on photoshop, I probably have some settings messed up.

Nice crop, good focus on the cat...
I took the freedom to work a little bit on the contrast, hope you like it.

Andre:

What a pleasant effect the lights around these buildings give in contrast to the deep blue hue in the sky around them. Lovely.

Thanks for your information. The fun part( I hope) is that you can go back and do it as many times as you want, in as many settings as you want.
I have always ascribed to the theory that went one found an inviting subject, that I'd shoot it from many angles, and lookaround the area for other nearby subjects.

I'll have to work with this D70, and get to know it as I do my film cameras.

Happy Holidays.

I really apreciate the comments from everybody, thanks a lot, I like the idea of cropping the bottom, but I also liked the line in the parking lot pointing back to the first building.
Walt, I left the WB on auto, I'm shooting in RAW so I can change the WB later if I want on NikonCapture (it only applies the settings when you open the file, but it never alters the original file) I had the camera on manual, I set the apperture, then I set the speed until the meter indicated one notch overexposed (15sec). Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hi Andre
I like the exposure on your picture, it's a good color and exposure.
I think that the parking lot adds to the composition; you wouldn't want them to be floating in the air.

Theonly other things that I would say is that you might change the position to the left a bit, so as to make them more of a leading line effect.

Another possibility would be to take pictures from the sky bridge, in the distance or even crop in a bit so that only some of the bldgs show.

I do have one favor to ask;
Since I do have a D70, and haven't used it very much, would you be so kind as to tell about the WB, and in which mode(Aperature, Manual, etc) that you used with your camera.? I'd appreciate your assistance.

Hi Andre - I think the outline of these buildings creates the most interesting aspect to this shot. I agree w/ paul that the parking lot distracts alot from the mentioned glow of the buildings in the night. Also, doing this perhaps a little earlier, would produce a more contrasting blueish tone to the sky. Exposure values look very good. There seems to be an unusual brown dot floating above the smallest building to the left - but an easy fix in PS.

Regards,
Chris

Great exposure and very crisp, but I think by minimizing the parking lot, you're leading the eye much more strongly into the contrast of buildings and darkness.

I set the bottom crop to use the trail of tail-lights

Very nice, are those lights that line the edges of each building on all the time or are they just on due to the holiday season? I live in Baltimore and this shot gives me an idea of a shot I would like to try. Congrats on a cool pic!

Awesome! The christmas lights make the building really stick out like they are alive with the long exposure. Very nice.

Thanks for the comments! I thought about going with the full crop, but there a little anoying black triangle at the top right corner that keep drawing my eye to it, I thought about using a clone brush and getting rid of it, but I just cropped the whole thing...

Andre,
You are right, the rust gives the photo great texture.
I quite like your composition, the leading lines work well.
I am sure you probally checked out the option, but just composing the shot to the right a little more, giving a full view of the bolts thread.
You have a good eye for detail to spot this shot.
Good work
Russell
