Thank you, dearest Srna for your condolences. They go straight to my heart.
By googling "Dialogues with Schizophrenia" which was published the same time as Rachel's "Sweet Lemons" you'll eventually (and hopefully!) be able to communicate directly. Otherwise I'll think of something else to enable this.
Warm regards,
Rafi

Wish you were here too, Dearest Srna, even though its also great to see your lovely face.
I saw that we have not communicated since sometime in 2007. That must have been my fault, as I hardly posted anything. I was busy writing, translating and then...a year ago I lost my dear Rachel to lung cancer. We had been together since 1983, a year after I took the photo of the Taj Mahal I sent you long ago. It was on that trip that we met.
These days the English translation of her book in which she described her childhood in a detention camp on Mauritius was published. You might find it if you googled Rachel Springmann Ribak or "Sweet Lemons," the name of her book.
Thank you, dear, for your comment and I hope we communicate mire often.
Best regards
Rafi

As I told you, I met the curator a long time ago & corresponded with him. I think his namw was Ceman, but I can't be sure and possibly it's someone else now. Be that as it may, I'd like to be in contact with whoever it is.
Thanks again,
Rafi

Hello Nanda,
did you find the curator of the Jewish museum in Sarajevo?
Exellent shot, clear daylight showing the city and almost full moon, a rare combination.
Thank you for your comment,
Regards,
Rafi

Something went wrong here, Andrew. The comment I just sent you was meant for the goose-feet that somehow appeared when I clicked this photo. This one is beautiful in onother way. It shows the gloom of winter and the B&W is perfrct for this atmosphere.
Thanks again for your comment.

Rafi

Wow, Andrew. This is spectacular. A detail that tells a whole story!
Today we went to the grave of my late wife Rachel, so right now life is not great, but all the same...
And how are you?
Thanks for your warm words about my photo.
Regards,
Rafi

This is the first time we meet here, but I already have one other Usefilm friend from Mosul.
I like the precision of this B&W, as well as the off-center composition. What flower is it?
Thank you for your warm comment on my photo.

An unusually interesting and well captured picture of this bird, which is often ignored.
Thank you, Radovan, for your comment in my photo.

Hello Nanda,
I seem to remember telling you that I passed through Sarajevo on the train one night in 1988, I don't remeber if I told you that I met the curator of the Jewish museum on that train ride. Is there still a Jewish museum in Sarajevo and if there is, could you find out the name of the curator?
This is a lovely winter shot of your lovely city, all covered in white.
Thank you very much for your comment on my photo.
Warm regards,
Rafi

Ginger does sing as a rck-star, especially at night when she is hunting her "snake," made of two shoe strings tied to each other,
You made me laugh by your comment about this, Ania.
If you want to see a previous version of a book I wrote, google Dr. Rafael Springmann, go to purchase (not to buy it) and you'll find a way for us to correspond directly.
Warm regards,
Rafi

It's not easy to capture a cat with its tongue extended, even more so when it's drinking. You captured the exactly right moment, Ania, and I congratulate you on that.
Ginger, (a she,) is indeed very interested, you might say narcistically so, in herself, as you so well described her. Thank you for that.
I send you another photo of Ginger, this time yawning
Best regards,
Rafi

Your cat is definitely deep in its thoughts. It stands out very well in your photo, Ania. My grandchildren have a cat just like yours. They call it "Shady," which in Hebrew means "Shadow-like."
Thank you for your comments on my photos. As I already told you, you see the essence in each onev of them, the play of light rays and so on.
I used to know the Polish for many words, (jin kuye bardzo, horribly spelled...) and others, jimne meaning cold etc.
Warm regards

If you goggle my name, Dr. Rafael Springmann you'll find a previous version of my "Dialogues with Schizophrenia" and going to "purchase" you'll find a way to directly write to me. I'll answer that and then we'll be able to communicate more freely.

This is the first time we meet here, also I think my fisrt Swedish UF friend. I looked at part of your portfolio, more will come later, and was ipmressed by the photos and by the abstract names you gave them. I especially liked "Transparency" as that is the way I think flowers ought to be captured.
Thank you for your commen on my "Biolight."

Thank yoy for being with me in grieving for Rachel. Her photo as a child is the only one I have from Mauritius. Her name at that time was still Susie, the nname she was born with in Danzig (today Gdansk) and which she carried until she repatrieted and was old enough to change it. (Susie in Hebrew means "Move!" and that's the reason she changed it.)
The name "Sweet Lemons" stem from her experieces on Maurutius that were partly nice and partly ugly and after the sweet lemon fruit she ate in the Land of Israel, at that time still under British mandate.
Warm regards,
Rafi

The last time we corresponded and commented on each other's photos was about half a year ago. You have posted many photos since, all of the very well captured, so that the comment on the present one covers them all.
I like the tiny smile on the busker's(?)face, the way his fingers seem to come alive and the general B&W composition.
Thank you. Dave, for your warm comments on my recent photos.
Warm regards,
Rafi

I googled the website you sent me and found your father in Indonesia. From hos name I thought the he (and you) ere Dutch and I also remembered the Dutch in Indonesia during WWII.
Unfortunately Rachel passed away last March, but her book, "Sweet Lemons" is due in English soon. In it she described her childhood during WWII in a British detention camp on Mauritius.

Sorry, Harry. I tried several times but could not find your father's journey. I was also in Indonesia in 1996 for a month, going through Bali, Sulawesi, Sumatra and Java. You may find some of my photos in my portfolio. I send you the photo of my late wife RAchel (In blue jeans) dancing with Sumatra locals, up to 150 years ago cannibals.
Best wishes,
Rafi

Hello Harry,
Thank you for your detailed reply. I was also in Aqaba just vafter peace with Jordan was signed, as well as at the ancient Nabatean city, Petra, carved in the red rocks. We used to call it the "Red Rock" and many Israeli youngters paid with their lives for going there before there was peace.
Your bio does not tell of the country you live in, unless UF means something I donn't know.
Warm regards,
Rafi
