Beautiful light! The green and yellow tones of the hills in the foreground make a great blend with the blue background.

Mooie kleuren! Ook mooi dat de kleuren van de regenboog weer terugkomen in de rest van de foto.

I would also recommend Photoshop Elements... It is user friendly and there are a lot of tutorials on the web. You can download a free trial from the Adobe web site.

Beautiful light!
But I think you would get an even more dramatic image by leaving the blue sky part out.

I think the stem in the right is a bit distracting, you may could have got rid of that by taking a slightly different viewpoint.

Hi Alyazia,

congratulations with your macro lens!
I am not a macro expert (in fact I am an absolute beginner in this area...) but maybe I have some useful tips:

- indeed a tripod is often not very useful, especially if your object is moving.

- autofocus usually does not work well, it is better to use manual focus. And fine-tuning the focus often works better by moving the camera back and forth instead of turning the focusing ring.

- the depth of field is very small for such short distance, therefore it is often necessary to use a very small aperture (f/22 or even smaller is quite common) to get a sufficiently large depth of field.

- Smaller aperture means less light, so a flash is convenient... A normal flash does not work well, it is better to use a special macro (ring) flash.

Hope this is helpful,

Hermen

Great X :-)
Makes it a very powerfol composition.
I would have preferred if the lower spotlight would not just have touched the middle building. (By taking a slightly different viewpoint ?)

Hermen

The repeting umbrellas create an interesting effect.
I think the photo would be better without the branches in the right side of the frame (I find them a bit disturbing)

Hermen

Interesting perspective!
At first I wondered how you could get up so high but then I read your explanation :-)

Hi Stan,

Benjamin Lebsanft provides compiled dcraw for downloading. If you enter his name in Google you'll find it.

Beautiful colours! I like the long exposure effect.

By the way, did you hear of DCRaw ?
It is a freely available RAW converter, apparently better than the one in Dimage Viewer.

Hi Sara,

thanks for your kind comment! Sometims you just have to be lucky :-) The weather was quite exceptional that morning, a combination of mist and frost, which put a nice white layer around almost everyting.
But I heard some rumours that you can also achieve these kind of images by putting leaves in the fridge :-(

regards,
Hermen

Beautiful colours!
I also like the way that you cropped the image, it enhances the attention for the fluctuating colours in the sky.

Also beautiful colours here! You may make the tree stand out better by adding a little unsharp mask to the digital image. I bet the contrast in the original slide is good enough :-)

Beautiful colours! Indeed they look better (more natural) than in the Fuji S2 image.

Nice action shot, good expression! I would crop a little bit from the (top) background, I think this will put more emphasis on his face.

I like this one best! The stitches are performed well in all three version, but this one stands out because of the vivid colours.

Marion, it is between Oirschot, Boxtel and Best - If you click on my portfolio link 'De Mortelen' you can see how it looks like :-)
'De Heilige Eik' is just at the other side (the south) of Oirschot.

Thanks for your comment Marion - yes, maybe I should have used my tripod :-)
Where do you live ? (Actually this image was taken in 'De Mortelen' but I think Oirschot is the closest village)
