I have no real idea how this would look with more DOF, in comparison. Would be interesting. I guess you chose the shallow DOF intentionally, and it looks definitively interesting, different (as it is en vogue in the macro world to go for as much DOF as possible...)

Thanks, Jinggoy--the little girl smiles pretty much all of the time. I think the name fits her, she is a bit of a "pest", she's on the lap all of the time!

Thanks for the very helpful comments, Albert. I experimented a little with the aperture settings, and I think I got some better results. I probably won't post anymore bee shots for a while... too much of a good thing ;), but I will keep your suggestions in mind as I shoot the macros.
