Oh yes I see what you mean about using effect or "cheating";-) A fantastic photo so full of mood and quite spooky as well. Excellent in B/W. I can understand why you got these awards, Bek!
Take care

Dear Bek...the awards are well deserved... And the idea of the capture is really well done.- Although for me there are many problems in this image.- Of course IS NOT A HIGH KEY, like some friends said...for me really is a tone eliminate, the background of the head is with low or any detail, must not be a hard question,.
But in the face we can't see the silhouette of the nose, nothing any detail, and at the end the eyes and the lips are really perfect.- Well my dear Bek I try to be honesty...always ... WARMEST Regards. Congratulations by the awards... are well deserved those are the fair play.- LUIS

Great piece of creative work, haven't seen the colour one yet, but love the tones here, and the clarity of the eyes.

Well Done, Becks.

OMG!!! Can't believe I just got around to finishing this delightful series . . . Hilarious . . . well . . . more like Hysterical!! Turns out Arnold owes ME a cigar!!

Poor widow kneesup! You gotta feel for her . . . first the plumber for that nagging drip-drip-drip . . . then the electrician for the flickering light . . . . now Arnold for the stove . . . She just Can't get a break!

Inspired work Beks!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

LMAO!!! 18 Seconds!! Hopefully that includes fore(finger)play!!

Hmmmm . . . very kind of Arnold . . . see how much easier it will be for her to re-live and remember their fist time together?? Spending hours swinging from the chandelier in a racous bout of wild passion would have become a blur . . . this way . . . the future can grow!

Give the man a cigar! Well done! :)

Doyle I <~~~~~

Whoa . . . that was YOU Jan? Did you see the running guy that was yelling something about needing a fag and needing one NOW?? Almost pushed me aside!

Anyway . . . if you can't beat 'em join 'em right? (Here's a toaster for the table). The bride will have to make due with a kiss on the cheek though . . . can't be having lipstick on me for the wife to evaluate (however innocent it is)! LoL!

Doyle I <~~~~~

A question... did you keep Sheila and Arnold on your hands for the entire duration of this epic saga? Did they visit the supermarket? The petrol station? The sanitorium? :)

Actually I'm getting used to it... some might say it's an improvement. So all legal action is henceforth dropped.

Rebecca, you may be familiar with the book 'Metamorphosis' by Franz Kafka, in which a bloke wakes up to find he's transformed into a giant insect. Well imagine my surprise when I looked in the mirror first thing this morning to find.... THIS! I blame YOU unreservedly! It's all your fault! My lawyers are on the case as we speak... you'll be hearing from me.

Ah Liz, and so it ends (for now anyway).....

You are too kind and thanks so much for your words of encouragement along the way, and especially for this one. It is nice to know that my off-beat ideas make some people laugh and give them something else to think about apart from work, bills, illness and reality in general.
I always think people need more giggles in their life and this series certainly made me chuckle if nothing else.
Back to the serious stuff now I suppose, and time to get down to some hard-core critiqueing of other peoples work. This has been fun but very time consuming and I fear I have missed a lot of great stuff.
Big hugs to you for your hilarious comments, you're a gem.
cheers, Bek xxx

I think we broke poor Patrick's brain, his life will never be the same again, his dreams peppered with images of what could have been for him and Sheila. He will go places and see her face everywhere, buying cigarettes will bring the memories flooding back again and again, forcing him to become bedridden and valium-riddled to cope. Start cooking those turkey pot pies and the chicken soup, it will take a lot to get him back to his old self (and don't dare walk into the room with white boots, that will set us back to the beginning), shooting abstract pics again.

As for the blogging, I am a complete techno-bimbo and wouldn't have a clue how to go about doing something like that...also a bit scared that the nuts here are of a particular breed, and the 'outside world' just wouldn't understand Sheila, Arnold or ME!!! LOL
Thanks for your great comments Sandra, you are a trooper and we love you xxx B
