Nice grab shot Dan. I think he would stand out more if you blurred the background in PS - it is a bit too fussy at the moment. Good expressio on his face!

Hi John,
been looking at your sunflowers and this is the one I like best - lots of movement - like flames from a gas jet almost - very unusual and well captured.

Hello Elangovan. Thanks for your comment. It was actually not set up, more of a grab shot - the walker just came along and I managed to get her just in the right place at the right time. It was an awful day, the light was terrible and I was finding it hard to compose a picture when she just walked into the shot - Bingo!!!

Congratulations! This is an image I could look at for a long, long time. Bought your book today to see how you accomplish these compositions and to try to pick up some tips. Very nice indeed.

Basically a good image but it could be improved a lot with
Photoshop. Needs the spots cloning out and some Levels adjustments to bring out the different tones. I know you'v got Photoshop, Dan, so let's see the improved version posted soon and some more of your London shots.

Hello Michaelle, love this photo - nice to see black and white used for flowers - tones are excellent. Just looked at your portfolio - you have some lovely prints.

Thanks for your comments Susan. The glass in the picture is not coloured but there is a great deal of stained glass in this Cathedral in some of the other cloisters. As the glass in this part of the cathedral is plain it means there is a lot of light for taking hand held photos.

Good illustration of depth of field Sarah - looks like a lovely day - must have been one of the few we'v had this summer?

Did you get up early to take this Jason? Where are all the people? Like the line of steps leading the eye to St. Pauls.

Hi John! Nice to have a comment from a familiar name - glad you are still posting your pictures. The red does make a good contrast to the light tones in the picture - these people moved seconds after I shot it. The light in this Hall is fantastic - must go back soon.
Cheers.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for your helpful suggestion re downsizing. I will try your method with my 885. Yes, it is a nice camera but I am hoping to get a digital SLR this year (hopefully) to give me a bit more scope. Anyway I am just off on a quick trip up to London with my 885 tomorrow - hope the weather
is good for some travel shots around Kensington.
The magazine is called 'Digital Photo' - out monthly. I can recommend it.

Thanks for your comment, jeff. I don't know if the lights are gas or electric but I will make an effort to go there one evening and try for a twilight shot. yes, the judges would like the bird but I have to admit that I added it later to cover a piece of blank sky. Sorry about the small size - I am having some difficulty in sizing down and still keeping the pixels. I find that at 200kbs my pics lose clarity - never used to have this problem with negative and slide pics - only with my digitals. I am working on it!!
When you see it full size the detail is amazing. I have just sent this one off to a magazine.

This caught my eye when I logged on today. Love the soft glow it has and the colours blend nicely - the girls are beautiful too. All adds together for a good result William.

Just spotted this in random images - really like the treatment. Normally I wouldn't like the tree being so central but here it seems to work. You are very fortunate to have scenery like this so near.

Hi Arreymbuo, I did Venetain Dreamin some time ago so forget just which blending modes I used. I did use various filters - just kept going till I liked the result. It was a slide I took in Venice and was a bit boring as it was so I thought I would do something different with it. So pleased you like it.

Hello Kim. Glad you liked the roses. They are basically a white rose with a red trim round the tops - very unusual. I didn't grow them myself so can't say what they are called!
Can't see the blue tint at the bottom on my monitor. Could be a shadow on the glass coffee table perhaps?

Thanks for your comments on my roses Dawna. I agree with you that a plain vase would have been better. They were just sitting there on my coffee table and I thought how nice they looked so I dashed off to get my camera and snapped away. It was just a grab shot really. I like your daisy arrangement by the way. It works very well. Keep posting!

Superb image Michael. It almost has a touch of lith about it with the deep blacks contrasting against the gold. Perfect viewpoint with the gentle curve of the road wandering into the distance.
