Ugh!
Those WHO have good luck are those who make their own.

Jeez! Go back to clicking the shutter and leave the keyboard alone, Sue!

Nice catch, RM! Patience gets you those kinds of shots.

To paraphrase someone, Those you have good luck are those who MAKE their own.

To borrow from my mother "Homemade is always best."

Nice job here, Matt! The only thing I could see to maybe improve it would be a longer shutter speed to silk out the waves a little bit.

Not that I could take this image. My hindsight is 20/20 and is an exact science. :-)

Glad to see you're still around. How's life? We finally made the big move to Colorado and are loving it!

An excellent shot made delightful by the fly. Good planning, buddy! All those hours of fly-training finally paid off! :-)

JK! It is a marvelous photo. Surprised to see you shooting dSLR? New equipment since last we saw each other?

What a wonderful portrait! I like how you've given him/her space to look into. You know how in the middle of the night the dog will suddenly stand up and start staring into the darkness and you suddenly start thinking about every chainsaw movie you ever saw? :-D

Good job, Jeff. Hope you are well. We've finally made the big move to Colorado and are loving it!

Michael, so very sorry to hear about your car and your neck. Sometimes these things happen for a reason but it sure as hell is inconvenient until that reason becomes clear!

I don't recall if I did so already, but I want to thank you very very much for the article you did on using the gradient mask. It has been such tremendous help to me! I'm glad the images are available for it again.

But did He get the toaster oven? Or the free iron? Those linens get a bit wrinkly after all...

Funny take on the sign and a thoughtful presentation using photography. Nicely done, Paul!

How about "Primordial Beastie!"? As good a name as any, I suppose.

Nice capture. Fantastic detail in the wings. I'm a bit distracted by the brightness of the stem but thems the breaks when shooting something as... eh hem... "flighty" as this.

Bad pun, I know...

I kinda wish for a little more definition in the wings, but I love the crispness of the head and the catchlight in the eye. He was really beating it if that's the blur at 1/125!

Nice, Jeroen.

Black fur is truly a challenge to capture, but you've done a fine job here. Also worthy of kudos is the catchlight. The glare off the nose is a tiny touch too eyecatching, but hey, that's natural light for ya! Especially with a dog would wants nothing to do with photography and everything to do with playing.

Nice job, Toni.

I really like this one. Moody and contemplative. Good eye for seeing this.

If you wanted to change the mood somewhat you could also consider a "Portrait" crop, placing the table at the 7:30 position. It would relieve the "negative" space on the right which, imho, is not necessary.

Well, how cool is that! I tried to figure it out before I read your "About" and I had a heck of a time with it! It's marvelous to have a photo that makes the viewer search the details. I love it. It's going into my favs.

Thanks for posting it.

oh, man, the bokeh! Perfect selective focus too. Right at the heart.

Wish I had seen this earlier. Nice Job, Eric! Good to see you're shooting!

Hope to see you in chat sometime soon. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on "Exiting". You're right about the blackness. I think the photo would benefit from a little crop!

Even tho I know it's the sun, it does rather look like the initial blast of a nuclear explosion! Funny and scary at the same time!!!

And yes, the pairing of nuclear bunkers and solar nuclear fission is an appropriate one.

And to think I opened this image expecting to enjoy a nice sunset shot!!! Thanks for helping me view this photograph in an extraordinary way.

Nice job, Mark. I can almost feel the fur. Marvelous texture.

I have 3 cats, and I love shooting them. I can just imagine the reaction you got after the shutter click: the eyes slowly opened and you received the feline version of "What the devil are you playing at? I'm trying to sleep here!!!"

Fantastic from you as usual, Jim!

Have you also considered a portrait crop for this image? It too would make a lovely composition!

However, as I say, fantasic just as it is.

Yanno, I should read other ppl's comments before I post my own. Someone said to put the horizon in the center and I was saying move it away, which you've already addressed! And someone else said get rid of the bottom. Guess my thoughts aren't original! heh heh heh

But I repeat, leave it as is; it's beautiful!

Oh! Say it ain't so! Summer can't be over yet!

I love it, Kim. Very nicely done! For some reason, I especially like the reflecting hints off the water. You've captured them beautifully without blowing it out.

If I had to say something critical (since you've marked this image "CO"), I'd say you could probably get rid of some of the foreground and take the horizon away from that center area. You have a nearly solid line which almost appears as a dividing line.

In fact, if you wanted to make this seem like a medium format shot, you could crop from the bottom to get a square and the composition wouldn't suffer at all.

However, if it were my photo, I'd leave it exactly as is. Be proud of this one!

MS! This is splendid! I agree with Kim about the eyes being just a little soft, but since you only notice if you're looking for it, it's not a problem.

If I was trying to describe to a city kid, what a dragonfly looks like, this is what I'd use as an illustration. It defines it perfectly, with the vivid "alien-ness" of it and the primordial backdrop of the horsetail reeds.

And aesthetically, it's gorgeous too!

Nice job.
