Sarah, This is a lovely shot, sharp and very well exposed.
just a suggestion, what about cropping the right side to the edge of the front (in focus) flower. I held some card to my right and I felt it made the image stronger.
That said this is very well taken

I'm not sure what else to suggest, your theory of the film being too tight may be an cause but what the answer may be i am not sure. Suggest you put your query & pic in the forum, there is a lot of tech. knowledge & experience out there. Sorry i can't help more.

Jus a guess, but they may be drying marks, if the film wasn't wiped cleanly after processing you may get drying/water marks. You may try washing the film (carefully)by running it through a bowl of water and then running it through some very clean tissue when it is hanging to dry...? other than that I don't know.

This is a good photo, how did you manage to get this effect, I know from experience that 'bike engines are difficult. Risk of reflections and clutter through the gaps between the cylinders. A good pattern.

Hello Dawna,
Thanks for your comments, Unfortunately I had to grab the shot as Oscar doesn't stand still for long. To achieve the effect from a colour picture, I desaturated the sky a bit at a time using the magic wand tool and then darkened it, to lighten the foilage you need image-adjustments- channel mixer, tick the monochrome box and adjust the green channel to +200, then adjust the red and blue channels to -50. Add glow by filter-distort-diffuse glow, readings for this are glow 4, grain 4 ,clear 15.
Have fun

This is a good shot of the tower, and well done for not getting a distorted image, its too easy to make sky scrapers look like their about to fall over by converging the parellel lines. well taken.

This has impact, well taken & composed, do you think the sky could be darker to mirror the water? I don't know if it would work, might be too heavy. a good pic.

Spooky, have you checked the basement?, this has the making of a good journo/documentry shot, how about doing it again with a breadknife on the steps.. to tell a story..

This is a corker, You are right about the angles and leading the eye, you are also right about including your daughter ( apart from the fact that she is cute), she makes the picture dynamic. This is enhanced by her looking at you..straight down the lens. Well done.

This is a lovely shot, very well seen and taken, i agree with Terrence about it being a bit softer, would turn a good shot into an even greater one.

This is nicely executed, warm and inviting, you made good use of cornish cloud. The position of the mine building leads the eye in nicely.

Ivan, The background was misty and I have tried to show this, however the print is a brown/sepia tone, I don't know what has happened here.. could add this to my list of near misses.

Thanks Russell and you to Rogerio, I'm still learning what my new pocket sized digi camera will do, This was taken at about 1/2 the zoom, which i think equates to 50mm? lens. cant tell what the aperture is tho.

Hi Sarah,
I knew the carriage would give no detail as soon as I had said it, its a good shot though. And it's nice to chat to a local (in USEFILM terms) someone else who has to put up with the vagaries of the weather and tupperware skies.
nice to make contact

well exposed and it tells a story, were you able to take a shot from the end of the crate rather than the side? I dont know if it would have been better. Well seen and taken.

This was well seen and taken, the horse is beautifully exposed, It appears that some parts of the carriage are in shadow and have lost detail (whatever there was) but i don't know what you do about that. a good shot, wasn't the carriage owner risking a parking ticket?

This is almost an abstract shot, but one that tells a story
I like it,there is a sense of movement with the toy and the hand.

Well seen and carried out, I am not sure about the driftwood, it leads the eye, but can be distracting, pulling me away from the storm clouds. That said, it is a good picture, nicely exposed and all that.
