Thanks Raihan. Yes, I used the 70-300G lens. Hand held as I was in a boat while my student were canoeing. It is a nice lens. I haven't tried too much manual control with it yet.

Nice shot andy...
Did you use the 70-300G lens? I had that one too. Best performance is between F8 and F11 and shooting in aperture priority. I got some nice results from using tripods too!

Nice shot Andy, my only suggestion since you asked, is get your subject out of the middle of the frame, think rule of thirds. I would have put the subject in the lower left hand quadrant, giving him space to the right. It would have also open up the mountains.
Color, exposure, DOF are very good.
