Simple clean lines and a nice composition: this is the type of image I love seeing done in BW. Well done.

There's something in the composition that bothers me, it seems to focus my attention right dead center for some reason. Can't quite put my finger on what it is, but it may be that dark spot in the middle top and the dark tones going right down to the middle tree. But I really DO like this picture, with the dramatic sky and the tones that give it the feel of an old fashioned painting. It has a real sense of depth to it, almost 3D.

This pic was taken yesterday, during a long leisurely walk. Today was an indulgement of laziness only interrupted by cooking and eating a turkey dinner.

I agree the rock is a little distracting, but can't say I blame ya for not reaching in there and pulling it out of the way. ;-) Nice specimen, do you know which species of rattler this is? These are the times you want a 600mm lens...with teleconverter.

This was kind of a test for the new site, 1200 x 300.

Love the lighting on this one. Gives it that late aftenoon early autumn kind of feel. My only nit is in the colours, the greens are a bit too bright a shade in the grass.

Neat how you've caught the wing action, one up, one down. Great catch.

I like the way the opposing direction of the clouds give this one movement. Great lighting.

Wonderfully sharp focus and good exposure, just too bad it's got so many shadows on it. Great bird shot.

Lovely scenic shot. I agree about the con-trail, I'm wishing it wasn't there.

The contrast is a little high, I'm not liking that dark shadow of the wall on the left. But the exposure is good, can see the stonework, and it has a nice sense of depth. Nice scenic.

I love the colours in this one. Nice clean background, the bit of torn leaf at the front is a wee bit distracting, but that can't be helped, and is part of the setting. I'm wondering what kind of moth or butterly this lovely caterpillar will turn into.

Thankyou everyone for your kind comments. The novelty just hasn't worn off that macro lens, I'm having great fun with it!

Nice macro of that lovely California lichen. When I visited the desert out there I enjoyed seeing the different colours of lichen on the rocks, red, brown, orange, gray, and even some beautiful lime green. Brings back memories of kickin' around in the rocks and cacti. Nice saturated colours.

Nice composition, good clean background, good focus on the eye, but a little more depth of field would help. Nice shot, interesting grasshopper.

Interesting to see that such a large flake of frost forms on the snow like that. Outdoors I've only seen them around the edges of some animal burrow or at the water's edge, places darned near impossible to shoot them. We do get some lovely patterns on the windows, I'm still trying to get some good macro shots of them.

Nice and crisp, lovely shot. A little tip that someone showed me is to hold a piece of gold coloured foil (can get some from big chocolate bar wrappers or coffee bags) near a subject like this, and it provides a bit of soft light. That would help to bring out a little more detail at the base of the flower head. I carry a couple pieces in the camera bag, even glued a piece to a bit of folded cardboard from a cereal box.

I like the composition, but not the wide frame. I'm wondering if a thinner frame would be more effective?

A Mini Queen Victoria? hehehe...love the expression. Nice portrait, my only nit is that the reflection off the crown is just a tad overpowering, takes too much attention away from that determined little face.

The bull can cross the field in 9 seconds. Did you do in 8? ;-) I'm wanting a bit more light on the face, but it's still an effective silhouette. He's standing right in the middle of the frame...he OWNS that field! LOL!
