Thanks Joanna - It's true that during summer there can be lots of snakes around. Just Guessing you were camping late February or perhaps March. There are 3 rules for walking in summer,
1, Take a stick and bang it on the ground - make lots of noise while walking.
2, Always have someone else walk ahead
3, Always go hiking with someone who runs slower than you.
Cheers

I thought i recognized those flowers!! An amazingly gorgeous spot, I have enjoyed walking & camping in the Walls of Jerusalem myself- but still shudder at how many snakes we saw ( and almost stepped on in one case)!!
What a beautiful image, & great use of that filter!
Nice surprise to see another Tasmanian here.

That is very flattering Nicole. I do try very hard to get my composotion right and it is great when it is appreciated. There are two aspecst of this image that I enjoy- One is that it was so unexpected. I was actually on my way to another spot about 10 minutes away, and the other that this spot is so close to my home so I am reminded again how fortunate I am - to live where I do.

Thanks Mario. The Crop is from 35mm. There was extra sky and extra darke foreground but they did not add anything to the image - Thanks again for you comment.

excellent desert photo and very wise to use the silhouette. i say that because these days most of the people you'll see on camels or other animals in the desert are dressed like tourists, and that takes away from an image like this. with the shadows, you cant tell who the people are.

its only in the past two years, since my first trip to a desert, that i've learned to appreciate photos such as this. well done.

warmest regards ~ james

Not dramatic, but still very good lighting because the emphasis is now on the foreground part. Nice details and composition.
