I did a small amount of post production to give it a vignette. I felt that without it, the background was a little too busy, and it took your attention away from the subject.
By vignetting the picture, I could show more of the whole setting - wet sidewalk and street with leaves, etc.

Very nice photo. The fog? is just a little distracting but is also very purposeful. To me, it adds a sense of loneliness and solitude. Really seems to isolate the character from the surroundings.

Great shot, strong story! Unfortunately not a great sight, but this is kind of normal if you're livin' in Seattle. I like this photo big time, but there's one little thing that bothers me: I can't figure out what's that ''smoke'' around the guy? Digital manipulation, post production, dodge tool,...?

I saw a documentary about the construction of this roof and thought that it was pretty incredible. You have certainly captured its essence. Hopefully I will get to see it someday. Nice capture.

I think this a beautifully composed shot. Without being mawkish it communicates a sense of antiquity and experience. I have to confess it galls me just a little to see a digital picture this gorgeous.

Very well composed. The man's face is a marvel, but you've done well to show him in that interesting context. His fingers lightly holding the cigarette and gracefully poised on his cane is also superb. Good job! --George

Thank you. There was no fill flash. He was about 50 yards (~meters) away, on a bright, cloudy day. I could not ask for better lighting conditions. I was using a Sigma 135-400mm lens I had just bought, and I'm happy to say, it is a VERY sharp lens.

I guess because I am also from the NW I am attracted to pictures like this..? It's an excellent picture and I was immediately drawn to comment on it but there's no way to make it sound pleasant if you are not a fisherman, or woman. Great light, nice color..& captured my attention right off. I do like it...! Michele Carlsen
