Ooohh, yes, I like this one. The trees aren't situated exactly on the center horizon line although the reflection of them makes it seem much like that...which for me made me go back and take a second look at the entire thing. And then I noticed the goose which I think is also a nice touch. The water does look kinda crummy though...reminds me of Morgan Lake near Farmington where I live. Nice and scummy--but doesn't keep us from diving there! Hehe.

And guess what? I just bought my very first speedlight! Ooohh, the SB-800 (sooo pretty!). I'm so excited about it, I had to share with someone! The non-photographer family of mine just roll their eyes and shake their heads. They can't understand.

But back to the pic...LOVE it! ~Erin~

Ooohh, I've been to Banff once. Beautiful place...well captured in your photo here. I loved the area and wish to go back some day.

I like the way you composed this one with the curves starting in the upper left and carrying the eye toward the bottom right. And yes, nice clouds outside. It's always nice to get the chance to capture a kool image AND have a nice sky to compliment.

Well, no, speedlights wouldnt help with a sunset--I actually meant that I wish I had had one (or more) when I was photographing my cousin and her boyfriend in front of this sunset. They needed more light on them and the itty bitty popup on the D70 doesn't help much with illumination. Thank you though for the compliment on the sunset.

I love this photo-I would have to agree that both camels seem to be smiling about something. Perhaps having their picture taken?

The difference in color between the two is amazing. I must say, this one is my favorite--the lighting makes it seem 'warmer' even though the scene is the same. Nice job!

Absolutely stunning. I, too, love the colors and the clouds and everything--just what is a tufa though, anyway?

Ooohhh, I love this photo! It's the type of shot one loves to see on desktop wallpaper just so you can keep on looking at it.

Wow, now that's an incredible picture Monterey...it reminds me of waves from the ocean with the turmoil present in the clouds. I love sunsets but plan on breaking into the art of sunrises tomorrow actually (it takes courage to get up that early you know?? )

Well thank you. I wasn't able to stay for the the entire sunset as there was a call and the helicopter needed to be brought out (and thus I got kicked off the pad), but was able to get many nice shots. This is the best one though.

It's amazing how close you got...the only problem I am having with this photo is that it is SO close I had to read your description to tell what it is (of course, it could just be me and my tired eyes as well).

Very nice, I like the way you chose to keep the bright colors and desaturate the rest. Selective desaturation is just SO much fun, isn't it? Nice composition as well.

Thank you all for your comments...I'm glad you enjoy the photograph. I had fun with this one because I sat on the ground holding my camera at the angle I THOUGHT I wanted...while it was pointed and focused on what I HOPED it was focused on, because there was no way I could have actually looked through the viewfinder to make sure. lol I took many similar photos with tulips cut off or out of focus, but this one and a few others turned out nicely. Thank you all for enjoying my photo and taking the time to say so.

Absolutely awesome capture! Great colors and I love the geese in the photo as well. Photo would have been great without them, but they add so much more to it.

Wow, very interesting idea...taking a photograph through a telescope. And yes, I bet it WAS quite difficult to do. I know I have a problem just finding what I am looking for through a telescope viewfinder with only my eye...let alone looking through a camera looking through the telescope. Well done!

I'm glad you think so...twice. I actually printed this in an 8x10 format and had it matted and framed all in black. It looks quite lovely, even if I AM blowing my own horn by saying so. Of course, I did not keep the photo for myself--it was a present for a friends birthday, but she has gotten many comments from it as well. Thank you all for your input, I appreciate it much.

No, I just shoot in fine jpeg. I don't know much about photo manipulation yet and haven't bothered to play around with RAW format at all. That is useful information though--I wasn't aware you could tweak with a RAW format photo to such an extent. And yeah, the WB looks off balance to me as well, but of the 8 or so photos I took of this (tweaking wb with every shot), this one turned out the most true-to-color. I'll just have to re-shoot it and see what happens. Thanks for your input!

Beautiful colors! I like that you waited for a moment to catch the suns reflection in the sand to help accentuate the shadows from the shells and give the entire photo more depth. Bravo on a job well done.

No kidding! Well I am very impressed-at both the stealth required and the fact that the little guy just seemed to not care you were there.

Oh how absolutely cute! We have squirrels where I live and as a result I've never been able to see any scurry-ing around--I love the shot you managed to snag here! Question for you though--did you do any cropping, or were you just REALLY close to this little guy? To get a photo that close up with the kit lense on the D70 would be incredibly difficult (but I've certainly tried with mine!). Kudos to a great capture and a wonderful moment.

Thank you everyone! The great thing is that this is the view from my mothers patio--so every night I am over there I witness sunsets that are truly spectacular. Gotta love New Mexico weather!
