I cant tell you how many times I have tried to get this shot, and only to watch them come out horrible. This is by far the best one in my opinion. I wish that you could hear the tremdous amount of noise that accompanies the flames at this level.

Thank you

Thank you Gilberto and Jim. What you cant learn from just looking at the picture is that the planes engines are at full throttle with a sound that I can only compare to the space shuttle on take off. When the "shooter" in the yellow shirt touches his hand to the deck and raises it back up, another man triggers the catapult that launches the aircraft.

Thank you, Gilberto. I agree with you and think it makes a nice abstract more than anything. How the sun came through the water as it shot up just gave it something extra. I plan on trying to take more as the opportunity comes to me.

Its a shot of the sun reflecting off the side of some of the industrial shops and warehouses here at Yokosuka Naval Base. Thank you very much for your comments.

Chris, the only aspect I adjusted was the timing. Everything else remained unchanged from the factory settings.

Thank you for your comment. I have been wanting to take a shot like this for a while, but finally lucked into it. I just picked out a thunderhead, that had been active, focused as well as I could, and left the shutter open for 30 seconds. Understand that the coulds were fairly dark, but the ligntning inside them "lit" them up. Luckily, a good bolt sprang out, and it showed up like you see here. I thought about taking the moon out of the upper left corner, but I really liked the feel of how it filled in the open space. But, I might try to do a little cropping and re-post it sometime. Thanks again.

It is a funny looking aircraft in some respects, but its a beautiful design. I believe that its current mission is in the realm of electronic countermeasures. Like being a really big flying radar jammer, that can shoot back at radar sites that dont want to be jammed.

I believe in fighting for my rights, but I think that Gallagher said it best, "If PRO is good, and CON is bad, define the PROgress of CONgress."

Keep the fight alive
