Thank you Wolf. We don't get sunsets here with colors like that very often. We especially don't get colors like that very often when I'm there. ;)

Thank you Rashed.
I wish I could go back to this place again and take many more images than I did many years ago when this photo was originally taken.
Geographically speaking, It's a beautiful area and unlike any I had ever seen before in my home state. ..........it's only 150 miles away, but still a 4 t0 5 hour trip (one way) to actually get to the lake................... I say "Lake" because all of my recent images were taken at or near Vulcan Lake.

I'm sometimes slow to reply, but I thank you for the nice comment Radovan. I'd love to have the time to visit this place again and wait for the magic to happen once more. It's been a long time since I've been up there.

Thank you Stan..... I totally missed your comment. I will look...... because I know that I have a few more photos taken at different times over the years, but this one I'm sure was the best one except for the exposure a tad underexposed.
Hope all is well with you.

Thanks again Shirley. Even tho digital is cheaper by far, I can't use my two best lenses on a Canon digital camera.
Two lenses and a 1.4 converter cost me around $2500 15 years ago. Take a look at my three Hale-Bopp images on page three of my portfolio and you will immediately see the difference between a top end and a standard lens. The wide angle and the 300MM "L" series lenses showed the blue ionized gas trail of the comet.............. the other was taken with a standard glass Canon zoom lens. Those photos taught me a lot about lens quality. For as little photography as I am doing now, it's not cost very cost efficient to take the plunge.
......... OK OK, I may be a young old geezer, but some day I must make the change to digital. Thanks so much for your advice.

I also loved film, but it was getting quite expensive to buy and process. MAYBE you qualify as a 'geezer'...haha.

My Mom bought me a Nikon D80 for my birthday a few years ago, and now I am totally committed to digital...SO much easier and cheaper, and just as good quality as film now, if you have a good camera. Now the higher end digital cameras are cheaper than this one was, and more megapixels.

By the way, I was looking for something else in my portfolio and came across the Splash at Arch Rock http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=1201078

Unfortunately, I don't have any people in it to give scale, but the waves were splashing higher than those trees at times, which was very high. I sold quite a few prints of this in a gallery at Depoe Bay for awhile...The Dancing Coyote.:)

Yes, it does, but life goes on.
It's also that I have so many $$$ invested in my F-1 and few expensive Canon lenses plus a couple other Canon camera's that at this point in time, can't come close to starting a digital outfit.
.......and to be honest, I like film and the way it behaves. ........ OK, so now do I qualify as an old geezer? :)

Yea, not the first time I've been called that when asked my age. ;) I think my feeling old is from lack of work and not being able to afford taking my weekend trips into the hills like I used to. That was my stress relief. I kinda feel like a fish in a bucket now ..............and then of course they took my Kodachrome away. For now, I'm just happy I had taken all those images when I did.

Since my scanner is at least 5 yrs old, I would recommend reading reviews of scanners in photo magazines, or online. The average image size from my scanned slides is around 2400 X 3600.

Is there a Costco in your area? They do excellent prints from slides very reasonably. Also there is Mpix.com, which is wonderful. Good luck.:)

Mind me asking what you have, or a recommendations. I know that at $20 to $40 per slide, a scanner would pay for itself quickly. It's not in my budget in the near future, but I would have a lot more control over what I could do.
Not just the color, but the image size.
These images from Freddies are 1818 X 1228.

I usually had my "good" slides converted to 16 X 20 or occasionally 20 X 24 prints and they come out very nice.
I'm not a digital person, but I know that I would need a fairly large image size from a scanner to do that same thing.
I appreciate your input.

You're welcome for the comments. The scans you are getting done are definitely giving your photos a strong cyan cast...not so good. It would be worth your while, if financially possible, to invest in a slide/film scanner. They have come way down in price. But I know how it is, living on Social Security.;)

I do like the B&W better. I am blessed with a great film/slide scanner, purchased before my husband died. I probably couldn't afford one now. It is a Minolta Dimage Scan Elite 5400, and does an excellent job of high quality scanning.

Thank you Shirley. I never did like the original because the color is so strange. It took a lot of work to get the right contrast levels in this black and white version. I was very happy with the result.
Thank you for all the nice comments.

Thank you Shirley. It's one of my favorites. I wonder how much different it would be starting with a high quality scan.
Most wave images are taken here with a nice blue sky late in the afternoon............ I have those too, but so does everyone else on the planet. Like all good images, I find being there at the right moment (luck) is quite often the most important element.

I've lived here my entire life and can't imagine living anywhere else. Coos Bay is a good "launching pad" to go to other places.
I'll be looking. If you find it first could you show me the link? I'm an old geezer still using dialup.
I had my camera set up and waiting in case a good wave appeared here................ I wonder if someone was behind ME, .........and he was taking a photo of a me taking a photo of a couple taking a photo. ;)

Thank you Shirley. I wasn't sure if I was getting to "artsy" by positioning the lighthouse where I did. I have always liked this one and partly because of the way the rich foreground colors came out.

Here's the original I had to work with. These are pretty decent slide to CD conversions for the money. I have them done at Freddies on their FUJI machine. I think .39 cents per slide. They all come back with a blue tint to them, so I need to do color corrections.
I know that high end slide to CD conversions are 18 to 45 PER SLIDE. If I was selling photos, it would be worth the price to have a high end conversion done.
Anyway, here's what I had to work with. I was trying to pull the details out of the smooth portions of the rock.
