Beautiful sky and colors, I especially love the person standing right in front of the flare of the sun, that really adds to the photo. Nice work!

Hi Nick...looks like a good sunset, the reflection and and human element is a nice touch on the natural colors. You have a good interest through to the background, but the two strongest elements are centered...the people in the foreground and the horizon. I think that lowering the foreground either by changing the perspective of the camera or zooming in at the same time so as to not loose the crop you have now could improve. And putting the people on a lower horizontal third (prob. bottom left to balance the buildings on the right) could as well...then again sometimes alot of people (myself included) throw the thrids rule right out the window when it doesn't fit a specific scene, but in this case some tweaks to the composition could really improve The attachted crop is an example of what I am referring to - but you lose quite a bit by cropping afterward - which is why I always try to shoot a couple of shots w/ varied crops and compositions on scene.

Regards and good shooting,
Chris

Nick, you take such great photographs I don't have much to critique! ;o) Considering I am new at this, I don't know much about the technical stuff... I can only go by what I see, and it looks great! Thanks for the compliment on my portraits!

Wow, this shot has a very subtl beauty to it. To be honest, it didn't look like much from the thumbnail, but when it fully opened I REALLY saw it!

The softness of the water and colors really work well together. The sailboat in the distance and the silhouette of the surfer really add to the composition. VERY nice!

Welcome to Usefilm, nick, from one newbie to another!
Thanks for your comment on my pic.
This is a fine portrait, very moody, a study in concentration, you can almost hear the sound. I like the contrasty lighting, and the strong composition, the crossing diagonal bands of head/neck, light on t-shirt. fretboard, v arm and top of guitar body.
