Very interesting shot captured here. I love the expression from the lady in purple, to me it seems that she is saying oh my goodness I can't believe we just did that, and the little kid, wow Dad that was so cool, can we do it again. And the lady in green oops, I see someone got that on camera.
Great work I love the shot, great compositon, colours and details.

Superb image...again except the subject that surely is very interesting, the way the sunlight adds different parts of colors (between shadows and lights) and that golden looks especial on the Chrysler's tower, makes the image really incredible! My best regards!

Beautiful shot AJ... and I LOVE a lot here the colors, and how the sunlight makes the bridges and the buildings looks like gold against the deep cloudy sky, very nice multi-line composition too.

Excellent shot... the quality is really out of any way of critique... the statue really looks like...3D! nice placement for the flag too...and for the very very tiny humans down there! :-) a good element to give an idea about its size.

Many thanks for your comment, Gary. Yes, I agree the Sigma needs careful handling to get good results. I try to ensure a shutter of at least 1/500 when using full zoom handheld. I had a version of this ready to upload that I had processed normally, and was most surprised when I reprocessed it and found this level of detail hidden in the shadows.

I don't think I've ever knowingly seen an HDR image in mono before. This is very well done, AJ, award-worthy. If it wasn't for the rectangular frame I would have assumed this was captured with medium format, it has incredible resolution and an old feel to it. I'm particularly impressed you captured this with the humble Sigma lens, I've got the same and it's never performed as sharp as this. Regards, Gary

I only use tiffs if I am printing AJ (large prints that is) and like you I cannot see any difference when viewing on screen. I play around in raw and convert to jpgs. Cheers to you my good friend.....Ray

Many thanks, Ray - I'm enjoying the ride! I was actually not particularly close, but the lens did its job at 300mm.
For this I experimented with generating the HDR image from TIFFs instead of JPGs. But I can see no difference in the results, at least in images destined for the screen.

Many thanks, Stan. Glad you like the processing. I produced five different exposures in Lightroom. I generated the HDR image and did the tone mapping in PhotoMatix.

The detailing is fabulous my dear AJ and as has already been commented upon it is wonderful to at last realise the scale of this famous French sculpture by the tourists milling around like so many ants. I have seen it from the air but never ever had the opportunity to approach close up and I can never remember seeing the scale provided for me in any other photograph, so thank you my dear friend. I do love this technique you use (HDR) and considering that the process is still very new to you I think you are doing an amazing job with it. I just love the tones. Well done AJ. My very best wishes to you as always.......Ray

Nicely done AJ, one of my favorite famous places. I only saw her from the Empire State building last year. Was in New york for a few days. Did not have time for much because I was in a intense publishing seminar all day long. the HDR is really sweet. What HDR software do you use? I have tried some with the CS2 Photoshop and have not had much success at this kind of quality. I will check your web site tonight. Have a good day. Be well, Stan

Thanks Ania. The details are a result of the processing - no doubt some will dislike the harshness.
