Ah! Yes, that makes sense. Too bad about the DoF. I found a pretty nice, nearly pocket, tripod that I can take all over. It's made of metal. I bought it at Fry's. Do they have a Fry's near you?

Jinggoy - Thank you for your comments. Now that you mentioned it, I should have cropped out the rail. Ooops. As for the shadows... well, this is actually a "negative" of my original B&W. I agree, I need to mess with the levels a little better.

James - thanks for your comments. Actually, this is a "negative" of my B&W shot. There was no sun, just a windowless room. Kind of creepy. The white spot is actually my black camera. I thought I kept myself out of the shot, then I uploaded. (
I agree with your opinion on the DOF, unfortunatly I didn't have my tripod with me. There was not enough light to prevent blur (darn my shakey hands).

Nice job keeping your camera out of the shot.
I might have tried shooting again at a different time to see how the change in lighting would have effected things (I'm assuming that's sunlight streaming in from above).
Also, I wonder if using a longer DofF to capture including the close wall might have shown up.
Good idea and well framed.

Hi, this is a great abstract photo! my only comment would be to crop out the rail at the bottom of the image to make it more balanced. adjusting the contrast to make the shadows stand against the light areas would give it more strenght. Choice of B&W is good!

This is well exposed, and the colours and detail are fantastic. Also, I think I can almost, just about see your reflection in the bronze. Great job, Eric!

Beautiful baby...congratulations. I like the framing around his face with the hat and blanket, and of course, his expression is just lovely. The skin tones look a bit muddy to me-like maybe they could use a bit of brightening.

Hi Eric. This is a great pic. It is one of those classic portraits that will stand the test of time, and be looked apon in years to come, and bring smiles to all who look at it. The picture itself may not be technically perfect,(I an not trying to be critical) but the image itself conveys a far more important message. It has beautifully captured a moment in a childs life. I can relate to this, as I have 3 small boys of my own, and I luv showing images similar to yours, of my boys to familiy and friends.
You then look at the reaction on their faces, and you instantly know you took a great pic.
Regards, George.

Try sitting down at centre court beside one of the poles. With this angle you can get the players to face you regardless which side they are on. Plus you won't have any net in the way. The timing was right on, facial expression is great. Perhaps another second would have been more ideal.

Hey all kidding aside it is a lovely portrait. As a minimum I would sharpen her image a little in PS, select the inverse and apply a lens blur to the BG. I am interested in the subject. I like them in focus, tack sharp and the BG blurred. That is what we are looking at. If the BG is the important subject then re-think what I just said. Tress growning out of someones head is a tad distracting. If you moved 3 ft. to the left you could have avoided this. Her look and her pose are great. I don't mind the shadows unlike many others. PS your "still-lifes" are outstanding.

Nice spot for a dip. Tips? What were you trying to do? The sky is blown out a little, did you try fixing? B&W looks good for this type of shot and you composed it well. I would try shooting it again with two mermaids swimming in the pool.
