hi ethan,
very strong dof composing, although my personal feeling is that you have overdone a bit in the forefront (sacrificing some detail). anyway, great BW still and good geometry ideas.

I love accidents; :-) I mean this shot is powerful; it shows all it needs to say. head lit by bonfire; it also allows me as a viewer to create an entire story about it. Deep inside these accidents are not really accidents. I mean you shoot it one way or another; great!

Fine, this 9. Generates colour or a sense of it I'm not sure, in the reflections.

Very moody image. Great tones here. Thank you for taking time to view one of mine and comment. I'm always happy to see young men or women interested in photography. If you read my bio..you'll see why. I think it will open your eyes to another world. A better one.

I like the tight crop here and his expression. I think it needs just a touch of sharpening and a whole lot more contrast. The grain is nice here.

Crazy looking image. I like this quite a bit. The only thing missing giving the lighting conditions is his shadow on the wall.

I'm not sure what the color shift is. It's subtle, but I see it... It could be an irregularity on the part of whoever printed the photo (snapfish.com not exactly a pro lab, but they're cheap and they never scratch my negs unlike the local mini labs)

dust is inescapable, but once you have it digital (from scan) you can easily patch it and its legit because every photographer in the world spots their large prints with pro paint spotting, so pixel-spotting is as legit as any other effect that is reproducable in darkroom/normal processing film and print.
sorry for the rant... hmm. nice shot, i like the shapes -- why does it magenta/purple shift to the left? a filter? a shadow? different clouds? area of sky? it looks odd to me for some reason.

I like the scratch...I'd leave it. I used to hate getting scratched negs...especially from an important photo shoot. Now with digital I don't have that concern but sometimes you miss the whole process you go through with film. Nice to meet you. mark

That particular subject is right outside the front of my dorm, so I walk past it every single day as I go to class. I couldn't resist photographing it. Something about it is intriuging to me. It leads one to wonder how exactly something that thick and heavy and made of solid iron gets simply cracked in half...
As a matter of fact, the photo is upside down. I took it from a pretty normal angle, but then scanned it on a flatbed scanner. I thought I had all my scans corrected so that they were all "right-side-up" but apparently I skipped over that one. I only noticed this after I uploaded the image, and at that point I decided that I actually like it better upside down.
