I like the softness, the simplicity, the color, the form and the perfection of each petal. Very artistic. I like your style a lot and I am sure I can learn from it. Congratulations on being the editor's choice.

Hi Helder. You are correct. I am from NJ. Have you been to the Branch Brook Park? Anyway, this photo was from last year. I just found out the Cherry Blossom Festival in NJ last year. This year I went again but I did not get any photo good enough to share. I have looked at your portfolio and you have a very nice collection. All your photos are so perfectly composed and exposed. The colors are so vibrant. I like them so much.

Thank you all for the nice comments and suggestions. I was with a bus tour in one of the shore excursions from a cruise. The tour guide only gave us 20 minutes free time to take pictures. I was very lucky to have seen such a wonderful sunset. I have to confess that when I took these photos, my fellow bus mates were all waiting on the bus for me
About the photo. Since I do not use a lens hood, I want to use a small aperture to minimize any flare from the sun. I wanted to include more of the church's roof in the foreground but decided to include more of the sky instead. I used a 2 stop graduate neutral density filter to darkened the sky a little. I tried different elevation just to make sure the tip of the taller bell tower fall right outside of the volcano. I used the camera's matrix metering system for the exposure and turn on the flash just to light up the bell towers.
The raw image was scanned with a Nikon CoolScan IV ED without any alteration. Then I used PhotoShop Limited Edition's level to bring the contrast to match the print I got from the lab.
I welcome any suggestion on how to make this photo better. Thanks.
Andy
