I like it! Great lighting and I like the black and white. Just an idea here, take off the beater and the shoes, lean against wall and look directly into the camera. Hey I would do it!! lol Nice work.

Very special mood in this one! Trying to make sth. from the the Civil War I see. Well, you succeeded in my opinion. I canīt believe you didnīt get lots of comments on this one, Mike! The clothes, the pose, hair, mood, sepia- all thought out well.

Mike , I read the comments and on the one that said the lighting was harsh for a childs portrait is ok, in that opinion, but from my perspective and looking at it from a Avedon view point it is right on. Very nice lighting and angle. Great model, hope to see more.

Great light.
The face is classic Rembrandt lighting.
You really make contact with the eyes.
I like the right eye in shadow.
My only critique is the background.
Movement of light in the background can add so much depth to the photo. Try having the background darker behind your highlighted side and lighter behind the shadow side. This will make the subject seem 3D. You've lit the subject so well here.

Mike. One little trick for u...
To get rid of the creases in the background without silhouetting her, use the Dodge tool in PS set to Highlights at a power of 8% and a hardness of 0%. You will see the creases disappear magically and the back will become 100% white. You can even get close to her body and if u are careful, it won't be affected. Be extra careful with the hair part.

Very nice and festive. I like the simplicity of the black dress, the solid red sack, and the solid red wrapping - nothing is too extreme to detract from the subject. The gifts fit in nicely with the backdrop and Martha Stewart would certainly be proud of the wrapping! Looks like a metering challenge. With elves like that, it's no wonder Santa is always smiling! Nicely done and Merry Christmas!
