I'm sorry for the way that you have chosen to interpret these photos. I hoped that everyone would see that I have chosen to deal with this in a healthy healing way by expressing myself through my art and if you really knew me you would know that I am not "hiding behind a death mask" but staying happy and positive throughout this whole journey which is a very difficult thing for many to do. I had hoped that others would see "the smile behind my eyes" and wouldn't need a smile to know that I was happy. Obvisually I was worng and need to spell it out for you.

Sarah my dear, I must confess that when first I spotted your bald series I was intrigued. After visiting the entire series (as well as the the earlier works in your portfolio)I'm uncomfortable by the mood you've chosen to portray with these particular shots. I'm sure that I will be accused of being insensitive by many, I apologize if that happens, it is not my intent. You've been dealt a bad hand. You have a beautiful smile and you've done well to portray your happiness before the illness. With this series, you've chosen to share work which hides that beauty behind a death mask. I'm sorry for your pain and suffering, I would like to see that earlier happiness return in your work. I think your temporary baldness should be turned to your advantage. In my opinion, you're capable of much better pieces. Technically I see these shots revolving around a central theme of pain, death and depression. Your mannequin is the focal subject in this particular piece. It is the subject in focus. The expression of content is in it's face. There is just too much pain for me. I wish you continued good luck and look forward to enjoying how your pieces evolve through your success. Congratulations on your healthful recovery. -john

Hi Sarah, I like the soft lighting and the creative composition. You look healthy but I see some sadness in your eyes. Hope you feel better soon.

Sarah, this is unique. I wish the light on your face were equal to the light on the mannequin. But I like your angle oppossed to the mannequin being straight.

You're a brave woman. And if I were you, I wouldn't worry about being bald. You're beautiful in spite of it.

Excellent shot, powerful and yet because it is slightly off focus, it has some softeness. I really like the lighting here. It gives a nice shadow, and the contrast in the picture. Really great work, i also took the liberty of looking at some other pics in your portfolio and the portraits are very good! Nice work! Regards, Marco

Young Lady... A couple of years ago I started here at UF the custom of extending Birthday wishes to those who listed their dates on one of the forums.

As I have been absent on and off, I suppose that it has not carried on.

Never the less, there is a submission to warm your SOUL... that I have just posted...

Best wishes

At this late hour, Young Lady... you should be in bed, and getting that well known Beauty Sleep!

Get to bed... pronto... you need every bit of strength to maintain your abilities to battle!

Just Do It!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments and the compolation of my photos Lawrence. It touched my heart. I am using my potography as a way of healing and learning through all of this and am proud to say that I only have one more chemotherapy treatment left plus two weeks of radiation! I appreciate all of your kind words and support very much.

Dear Mr Kambiz,

Your comment may be understandable, however suggest that you have a look at this courageous Young Lady's prior submissions, and you may just appreciate somewhat more.

Do what you can to support your local Cancer Society.

We do not know each other, and I do not come to UF too often.

However I happened to open today, and saw this submission, and then wandered through your prior captures.

I have taken the liberty to proffer a composition, for Young Lady, you must be honoured!

You have taken positive steps, which together with working to maintain and increase your immune system, be it by naturopaphy or homeopathy, you will have every success in combating the damages.

Young Lady, it is awfully easy for me to write a check to the many Cancer fondations, but when seeing your submissions, simply makes me think... what else can be done.

May all the best wishes come your way, may you smile every day, may the sun shine upon you and the soft winds warm your back.

she might be beautiful, but I feel deep SADNESS in her eyes.
Also I can see a long scar on her right cheek!
I wonder who did such a nasty work on her!

this is a very brave project you've undertaken, Sarah, and I feel at the conclusion, it will have been very cathartic for you and instructive for all of us.

I applaud your openness and honesty with me and with yourself. Be strong, and be hopeful. We'll be with you in spirit, girl.

You have such a beautiful smile, and those eyes. What a unique opportunity you have to be able to document what you're going through. I like your smile here. Although you're in a difficult situation, I see strength in your eyes.
