This is a really nice portrait.

I love the lighting. It preserves all of the mood and feel of the Dutch Masters.

The colors, by and large, are very muted. Generally this makes a portrait like this without a point of interest. However, here you skillfully over come this by showing your subject with a red scarf. That red scarf grabs the viewer and does not let them go.

As a matter of taste, I would have preferred the eye not to be obscured by the shadow. I find that the eyes in a portrait are the most important part and hiding both of them leaves this portrait a bit cold.

This portrait shows a good mastery of light and how it relates to mood as well as your skill in making an image interesting to look at.

Nice colours and expression. The hidden part leave a question mark on the mind.

Tender and emotional. The lighting and composition are first rate. I'd love to see this in black and white as well.

Makes me think of a painting of the madonna. The light on the childs face and the white dress singles out the main subject nicely. There are a few details that one could change but nothing that takes away from the intimacy of this photograph.

I think this works just as it is. Straight on the face divides things perfectly symmetrically, and the lighter tone on the background helps us see the profile.

In my opinion... either the model should turn his head to his left ever so slightly... and the right side of the background should be darkened...

the potential strength of this capture is there...!

I too love the underwater feel of this. Wonder what an actual submerged person with a camera would produce in terms of reactions from photographers!?

As one enters her hall... there is a dimmed light... and then one sees... simple art...

and after dinner you are offered a large print to go home with...

Superb!

I like the titled/diagonal composition very much. The light features the very distinctive jaw- and cheekbones. The softness is entirely appropriate and works well. Just a little more space on top would have been nice.

i like very much where this is headed ... would want to see more though ... a wonderful emotion and "air" about this - tones i love too ... wish for just a slight more "detail" in the hair (maybe?) .. because the hair plays such an important place too ... wondrful image...
