Alessandro: That is the ocean at the end of the stairs. I took this early in the morning during the peak of high tide. The surf was really roaring that morning.

Robert, absolutely wonderful! Very nice shot. I imagine it would be even a bit more powerful in B&W with a little more contrast as well.

Excellent! Photograph what you love and you'll love what you photograph!

Regards,
Paul

Good idea, Eddy; unfortunately, I ran off and forgot my tripod. I wanted to shoot this at about 1/30 or perhaps 1/4 of a second, but couldn't manage it hand-held.

I love this! Absolutely wonderful, especially the delicate light falling on the rocks and the mist in the background.

I like the photo; however, the crooked horizon bothers me. Here is one with the horizon straightened and sky cropped a bit to take the horizon out of the dead-center of the photo.

Paul

Nice shot! Caught at just the right moment!

I would have cropped it a bit more to give it a bit of tension and also to remove the front of the automobile that is at the right of the picture. I like the feel that the bike is almost coming out of the frame (tension).

Here's my way of viewing it.

Thanks for uploading the shot!

Nice composition with great lighting; however, I get the sense that the frame is tilting to the left and there is some distortion at the top right corner of the frame. Perhaps the camera was not quite level?

Nice photo, though.

Paul

Chris, thanks for the comment; however, the intention was to have the colors somewhat muted. The sun was behind the flag and so made the flag translucent; further, the flag was rather worn and still flying proudly. This is how I had envisioned the picture.

Great though process! I love it! It looks like an abstract piece of art. Kind of surreal.

Daniel. Regarding your question ... It would appear that this shot was taken late in the evening judging by the warm tones as morning shots tend to be a bit cooler in color. Perhaps you could wait for about 5 more minutes to take the shot. In this way the sun would be slightly below the horizon and still cast a nice defuse light upon the stones.

On the other hand, if it is morning then you could arrive a few minutes earlier.

Also, you lens shade might help if you move your position slightly to the left so that you are not pointing so directly into the sun.

Nice photo! I look forward to seeing it again after your next visit.

Regards,

Paul

Nice shot! It could probably benefit from removing a bit more of the sky above the clouds. Good composition. Nice leading lines and curves.
