I agree with it being in B&W- I think color would have distracted from the subject. This shows the different details and textures well.

Thank you for the comment, Buddy. This was an inteesting setup in the Asian habitat at the preserve. The tigers were in an enclosure that was designed to look like ancient ruins. This guy was just sitting in a pool cooling off. I don't really know what he was looking at. I was lucky enough to get close enough to a couple of them and get them at the right moment.

Excellent, Peter! You left him room on the left to gaze into. I remember a tiger at the Denver Zoo fixing the hunting gaze of a huge predator cat on a small child in a stroller from the other side of thick glass, and it was SPOOKY! He paid no attention to adults.

Another great shot of yours...

???Ohhh no!!! my friend another time no, hahaha, that it is not a falcon it is a common buzard (buteo buteo) but, for the color of their tail perhaps is a Red-tailed hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) !!!BUT NEVER A FALCON!!!, hahahahaha.
Returning to the picture, it is very well achieved, excellent details and DOF. congratulations.7+

I tend to agree with Jamie on this one about the mid-frame horizon line, Peter, although it still is an interesting shot of a stark and mysterious place. Maybe in this case, using the Rule of Thirds and de-emphasizing the sky for the primary subject of the terrain would make this shot even more dramatic. Nice work, all that being said.

Yes, my bad on the wing. Unfortunately, these things don't stay still very long. I was panning to keep up with him and didn't notice that I had cropped the wing out in the camera.

Great shot. Good detail, color and DOF. I guess I agree about the wing, but it's not bad. The subject matter is cool. Glad I'm not a mouse.

Hello Buddy, and thanks for the comments. I posted another image - different bird, but I believe same kind, captured in more of a profile view. Some of his tail is visible.

Just as the friend Cody Spaid says this is not a Short-eared Owl (Asio flammeus), it is a Common Barn-Owl (Tito alba). I attach you a picture of the short eared owl so that you compare it.
PS: I found that picture in google.
