Interesting, but lacks the punch you were going for. I like the negative space, but crop tighter and add some more contrast for heavy blacks. Then we'll get the feel.

Sai,

That was cool!!!!! I didn't do anything to the wall as I wanted to stay true to reality. Photoshop is pretty rare in my shots unless it's saturation or blemishes. I do like the variation, tho!!!!!

Marc,

Great shot of Kelly...like the mood, and you nailed the composition. Photoshop out the bucket in the background. ;-) Look forward to seeing more!

Michelle, given the digital you're working with, the fuzziness doesn't throw me. Her face looks a bit choppy, but this is a nice shot once cleaned up. Learn some basic photoshop to clean the hair up. Scan some of your print shots, too, so people can see clear pics whereas the low grade digitial doesn't do yur work justice. Way to go...you're on your way!

Her hands look awkward, and way too much jewelry. her expression is also somewhat blank. Like the sepia, very attractive model. Would like to see a better version of this set.

Altaf,

My company name is JL Photography. I work in the banking industry and I do not wish to draw attention to my side business for obvious reasons. Hence, I use my company name to keep Yahoo searches and such away from my photo-work. (A guy put my name in Yahoo and found my work; I was called to HR as a result. Try putting your career on the line to convince you.) So, my full name is not and cannot be used for that reason. Sorry.

Hey all,

Thanks for the feedback. A word about the bottom part of the photo as a conscious decision was made about it. I did crop that out as I also wanted the consistant blow-out behind her, but then: her hips looked reeeeeeeal wide. (crop it with your hand and you'll see) I found THAT affect much more distracting; so I kept her hips intact to keep her slimmer.

Another note: I was balacing over a triangular jacuzzi with a silver reflector in the left hand and the D100 in the right. Acrobatic photography is the best! ;-)

Keep the comments coming and thanks!!!!!

Nice portrait with real emotion. I like that you didn't get tempted to smooth her skin out with PS...I'm all about reality. Nice work.

For a snapshot, I like the clarity. Try and get the entire body in for better effect. Nice cat. ;-)

Very unique lighting...seems to be happenstance. Somewhat dark, but I like it. The overtones have a greenish tint to it...intentional?

The intense stare makes up for the lack of focus (which I assume was the intent...). Love the lighting. Thanks for being different!!

Perfect and well executed. This is better than any stock photography or catalog shot I've seen. BRAVO.
