It's a beautifully composed shot. Even without a scale reference, I get a sense of its great size. Very pleasing tones, and the reflection on the water adds a nice touch.

I really like this image for it's abstract qualities, Daniel. I f you reverse orientation, this could be an image taken over earth's orbit from the space station, even. Very good work. Peace.

Pretty girls in bikinis are great subjects, but there are some technical issues with this submission. The primary object of interest is only a very small portion of the frame, and she's pretty overexposed (as in metering). A portrait orientation would have been more effective, and eliminated the need to cut her off at the knees. Also, the tilt of the frame, evidenced by the water line, detracts.

Nice shot - Just kidding... It is not that nice at all actualy. I do think that the grain works in this. However the odd frame inside the photo makes this lacking for me. Do the hands taste good?

The styling and costuming of this image is quite good. The model pulls off this look very well. A very candid innocence. Gives me a great sense of the character. Love the cropping at the top, bottom and right. Might consider squaring up the image by cropping square from the left. This will still leave your subject positioned to the right of the image, which I like. Just a thought.

Malcolm:
Thanks for your comment. I too like the flatness of the photo and you're probably right, if it were in the abstract section, it may not be such an issue...

By the way, as far as the grid pattern is concerned: I took this shot at night with only the room light (in the kitchen). How the grid pattern emerged is something beyond me. I didn't use a screen or anything. This shot was one out of about fifty, and only this one displayed the pattern. Weird, huh?

No need for more sharpness in this photograph. I feel that the softness conveys the fluid nature of water very well. Perhaps the problem is in the way we view things with the label of "macro" on it. If this were posted with the subject of "Abstract" would it still need more sharpness? (Not trying to get combative -- just start a discussion...)

On another topic, I assume that the grid pattern is caused by light from a window screen? I enjoy the contrast between the uniformity of the man-made squares vs. the natural, organic shapes in the ripple. Perhaps I'm getting much too poetic (Okay, everybody make fun of me now), but I like the way the squares are strong right in the center of the impact, are progressively distorted and eventually disapear as the ripple spreads out in time.

Great composition, I love the lighting and the shadow. I admit that I did not read your explanation and thought at first that the soap was on glass above some kind of textured background. After I read your "About" my appreciation of this shot increased. Right there, mundane objects -- but you had the eye to see it. Great job!

As I've viewed more and more photos on this board, I hate to give "7's" -- since I truely believe it lowers their value when they are sometimes handed out so freely. This shot was easy to score since it earned it.
