The lighting and contrast I think makes it moody. Was the soft focus intentional? I would like to see this sharp as well. AM

The lighting and contrast are intentional. This isn't really an architectual image. What I was trying to do was show the juxtaposition of the beautiful arrangement of shapes, and the darker reality of what it represents(traffic, overpopulation, societal problems, destruction of the environment.....). I toyed with naming it "Babylon" but went with interchange instead. Maybe "Babylon" would have made my intentions a little clearer. Just thought I would clear that up.

The Travellers are an interesting Irish minority group. They speak their own language, Shelta, and some say they are direct descendents of wandering poets joined by the homeless from the time of economic upheavel in the 1690's. They usually don't like to have their photos taken so you were lucky. This photo has a Dorothea Lange feel to it. Nice job.

I like this one, but I feel that the print could be a little stronger. A bit more punch would really bring it out. However - having said that, the almost dreamy tonal range is quite nice as well !!!!

I kind of like the softness in this series. It lends itself to a dreamy sequence of events. They do look great when they are all viewed at once. Wonderful job of story telling. aj

The soft focus gives it an interesting feeling - it gives the image some action. I feel like this is a good time in a bar sort of vibe. I like the composition, although the left hand being cut off is a little distracting to me.

Great composition! I'd like to see a bit moe sharpness in the eye area, but that's just me. The overall softness gives it an interesting feel. Great use of shapes and negative space.

I kinda like the background. The only thing that is bugging me is the guy's arm across their faces. Its an action shot. So, I suppose you need to be fast on the trigger.

Yes, I would agree with Kathleen on this. Plus the shadows from the trees intermingling with the tatoo, confuse me a bit. But interesting all the same. If you consider the subject is the hook in his back. Then the photo makes a lot of sense. Maybe change the title to 'hooked'. *grin* Yeah, changed what my rating was going to be. Higher on composition if you consider that subject.

The lighting is a bit off on this one. Too many shadows adding so much confusion. Perhaps it just as well that there are shadows hiding the activity. Now, I sorta see what they are doing! God, crazy kids. Is this some sort of initiation thing? A test of their stoicism? Maybe the low rating depicts someone's distaste for what they think they are seeing and not an actual rating on the quality of the photo. O well.

This is excellent. I am undecided about which one to add as my favourite. Pay no attention to the ridiculous ratings. There are some sick puppies out there. What are those two doing in that photo? Its amusing. The DOF, lighting, composition everything is terrific. By the way, I deleted my 'out of town'. I don't think my husband would have appreciated me doing that one.

Thanks for the comment. Your right about the size. Unfortunately, computers and digital stuff are still a mystery to me. I don't really understand sizing and scanning. I always just guess and hope for the best. -Fred
