Lori-Anne...

Wonderful still life capturing the essence of the beautiful art of Ballet, whose accoutriments reflect the delicacy of its expression.

It is interesting to me that you combine free lance writing with a love of photography. Perhaps a picture book of your works is not too far in your near future!

What struck Tami and I about this shot, is that we both imagined the dancers before us with just the risidual image of their footwear.

Congratulations, on a wonderful image.......

With Warm Regards,

John & Tami E.

Yes, Cathy, these are real, honest, hard working shoes. It was a wonderful experience to spend time in the studio shooting the dancers, where the art is created. Still, this spontaneous shot was my favourite.

Hi Cleveland, thanks for your critique. You may be right that the shoes are too crowded - this is just how they were hanging, in the dance studio I was visiting, and I felt compelled to sneak a quick shot (I was actually there photographing the dancers). While I may have been able to do something better by arranging them, I liked the authenticity of them, how the dancers left them.

These look like real, honest, hard working shoes. I love the story and the way you have portrayed them. CC

Lori-Anne, I like the idea you are trying to convey, I have mixed emotions, soles are lost on some of the pointe shoes and they might be crowded in too close. Maybe a different angle, not quite sure. Just my opinions and through my eyes.

Thank you Mary, it's a beautiful piano, but I especially love that you can see all the inner details and workings, which add so much texture. A rare glimpse - at least for me.

Hi Mary, thanks for your positive feedback. I just had a look in your portfolio and love what you've done with your instruments. Some wonderful shots, just on their own, but the superimposed notes and words really add an interesting look!

Lori:
I can see by your photos that you have an eye for photos. This photo is excellent FOR it shows that life is real and not always what we want.

And, what's more, I like you, too.

Here's a compromise, Addison - I've cropped in just a little on each side to take away some of the extra fussiness, but still kept the feeling of spaciousness that I think is important for this one. What do you think?

What a beatiful siamese cat, Lori-Anne! It looks a lot like mine, but "Cobi" is darker.

Many thanks for your kind comments on my photos
