Thanks Shirley for your kind words, and I'm happy you like it. The vessel is just leaving, the pole is on the side of the lake. This was on the Garda Lake in Italy, the vessel itself was an oldie, powered on both sides, the same way as the old mississippi river boats with the steam engines.
Take care,

Thanks Hugo for your kind comment, and yes I'm very often pleasantly surprised by the result of this camera in conditions were it is neccesary to use up to ISO 3200, however I made some pics in the York Minster without the flash and using 3200, some were amazingly good, and some were less good, that means, with a bit noise, so you're spoiled very quickly.
Take care, cheers,

A lovely capture here Klaas - and journalistic too - one wonders about the post in the water, the movement of the vessel (is it reversing?) and all very well composed and captured.

Hi Klaas,

Thanks! I see the reason behind the alternate version, and I appreciate your gesture to create a "dedicated" version. The rule of thirds is well applied in that one. Per attached the version I had in mind when I wrote my initial comment...

Cheers,

Hi Hugo, it's good to hear from you again. I'm glad you like this picture. I think the left side of the picture shows the wideness of the lake, the branches as a natural frame and a piece of the stairs to the lake in the lower left corner. Thanks for your kind words and visit. Very much apreciated as you know.
I post hereby a special version for you.
Take care and ceers,

Hi Klaas,

Very powerful photo, I really like those rays of light... I do feel the division between black silhouettes and sky is a bit too equal. As the attention is drawn towards the splendid sky, the silhouettes act as a mere frame (a very important one, though) I think that if you'd panned up a bit, the effect of the subdued light might've been a bit stronger.

Good PS work, though. Although I appreciate the effort to keep photos as natural as possible, I believe minor postprocessing can really boost the impact of a shot, and this is a good example. Very nice work.

Cheers,

hugo

Hi Klaas,

I really like the summer feel in this photo. Well captured, lush feel.

As to the composition, I feel it's a bit too centred, and the left side doesn't really adds much to the feel or the scene. IMO, it creates a minor unbalance.

Very well exposed, and I like the natural framing. Very good shot!

Cheers,

Hugo

Beautiful capture Klaas. That moment is so free and easy for the children it is great to see. The tree and the water- everything so right and gorgeous.
