Eb - I pretty much "wore out my favors" with my wife over the D3, but my son is playing varsity football the next two years and this was definitely the choice. As far as lenses, I did get a Sigma 18mm to 35mm f/2.8 for wide angle work. The Nikkors are better, but this was a good buy. I have been thinking ahead for after my kids are out of the house.....maybe the Sigma 300mm - 800mm (for wildlife). I'm dreaming.

Eb - I have the camera set for "normal" noise reduction. That has been the most fantastic part of the camera....A 1600 ISO on my old D200 was not as clean as the D3 at 6400.
I have taken similar photos with the 400mm lens (portrait-like) and the DOF is really nice.

Peaceful capture with sharpness, colors and reflections. Great composition. Our fall color was "stunted" considerably by Hurricane Ike (leaves removed from the trees in many locations).
