About Mason played his first real game tonight and they won.....15-13! Very nerve wracking for a grandmother........maybe I'll do better at the next game! All my shots are blurry, Mason didn't want me to use my flash (I don't think he wanted me to bring my camera either!)

1/25@5.0, ISO 1250.

Thanks Mary, Mason has a game tomorrow night. I'm sure I'll post at least ONE! Darlene

This doesn't seem to need any flash; the colours and light look just right to me. Great action shot. Just so you know, it doesn't get any less nerve wracking. I went to as many of my daughter's games as I could. Lately, I've gone to a couple of her women's league hockey games. It's still the same.

Well. I have an 85mm f/1.8 that can almost see in the dark. You can also crank up the ISO to help with the lighting, but be aware that the higher you go increases the grain.

Great action shot Darlene, Youre going to have break out the fast glass next time, You did a great job with the lighting though, most every Gym that I've been too has those ugly yellowish lights that I can never get to look white. I'm sure that we will be seeing more in the basketball series from you.

Yeah Pat, I think they do mix, especially from the mother of the bride. Might as well cover those red eyes with a camera! Good news on Krystal, PET scan was clear! Has a CAT scan tomorrow and hopefully that one will be good too! She'll still need radiation but we're all feeling pretty thankful right now! Take care. Darlene

What a chuckle, I know the nerve wracking part, did I tell you my son wants me to take his photographs of his wedding in December? I usually have nerves of steel, do tears and taking pictures mix? This is a cool picture despite the blur of the game. Pat

I like the action Darlene...makes the game come to life! Mason probably thinks it's cool, yes?
Look on the bright side, at least he's not motocross racing...can you imagine watching your grandson doing that? Not me! :)

i agree with Claude. using a faster lens, like 85mm f/1.8, will also help. these moments must be preserved well. good luck next time..:)

Maybe with a higher speed, or with priority on speed must give you less blur.

Regards
Claude
