About
This sky had me in awe, it took me an hour to walk the 20 minute walk home, and I took far too many photos. My dad liked this one, so I thought I'd put it up!
Hi Marie, nice shot. These clouds are called "Mammatus" if you search the internet you'll find more info on them. The are usually found on the back side of a storm line, and they are actually the bottom of the cumulus-nimbus clouds that i'm sure you know (storm, hail, lightning etc) They are, as you said, fantastic to observe! Look forward to seeing more photos from you. Best wishes from Switzerland Neil
Thanks so much for that message! It was a nice reply to receive. :)
This sky certainly did stop me in my tracks, as did another sky a couple of days ago! I've been stopping all over the place, wondering whether to stop and photograph something or not, I permanently have my camera on me!
I haven't worked out photoshop yet. I have something similar called the Gimp, once I have more time to play around with it, I might have a go. But I think I prefer to 'let it be'...
I'll be having a look at people's albums more closely soon!
Some skies stop you in their tracks, don't they, Marie. As a photographer, you'll know this moment. Are you tempted to do lots of things with this image in photoshop? or maybe it was so special, you just 'let it be'.
Thank you for including me in your friends, Marie. I'm honoured. I hope you'll peruse my portfolio, as I will watch yur future images.
You're right that is a very unusual cloud formation. However, if you hadn't told me waht is was then I would have been a bit puzzled. I think it could have been improved by adding something in the foreground, perhaps a tree or building to give some perspective.
I actually really like it as an abstract, I had a quick play with the levels to emphasise the patterns. Hope you don't mind.
