The low contrast does add to the pull of this and it would be interesting to see what you do to add "pop" Elizabeth has an interesting solution.

this is cool i like the idea and composition but i think you should add some contrast ooh! or it might be cool if you burned in just the back ground (and still darkened the hand alittle)but i think that would make it easier to see the hand because it blends into the back ground too muck i think that might make it stand out more

Great idea, well executed. The problem is it doesn't "pop". There's something about the tonality...I'd say it lacks contrast, but that's not it, there's deep blacks and almost paper whites. Maybe it needs more DOF? Midtone contrast? Something...
