Having just looked through your portfolio I'd say this image goes far beyond many of your others, as in this there is a conceptual message, something beyond just what is seen. A lot of the time simplifying your compositions and getting down to the basic forms and subject matters is the best way to say something and have a strong composition. In this case I find the top negative space too dominant for the composition. Cropping down a little and closing this space would help. Keeping an eye on not only what is being photographed, but all the space around it and the interesting shapes you could create with it by changing camera angle or other factors can really do a lot. Good work though and keep in this direction.

So Dad smokes!? This reminds me of many a family gathering with smokers (and headaches to boot).... very sharp and thought provoking...kind of mysterious ;
