Yes, Terrence, there are many incredible flower pics on this site, particularly those of Gary "Uncle Sparky" Banzoff, whose work inspired me to try some florals. Thanks for the compliment, and thanks Uncle for the inspiration.

Thanks, all, and Maggie, this flower is called a Protea. And, yes, I am like Davey. I had no idea what it was when I saw it but thought it was really interesting. Thought I'd catch Marilyn out by asking her what it was, but she knew straight away :-) (And so, now, do we). The colour is really vibrant and shows better in the second version, shot in better light the following morning (but a lot of the middle thingys had opened up by then).

Beautiful image Ray...light Dof all work well here...Framing is a bit open but it works for you here...only thing that bothers me is the lite green stem going across the bottom corner...if you darken that a bit it wouldnt pull there....very nicely done Ray...

OK Ray...when did this transition happen *G*...you've gone from Streetman to Flowerman. But I'm glad you are giving us the opportunity to see these wonderful flowers. Do you have any idea what they are called or are you another Davey...you just take the pictures...and all you know is that its an orange flower *BG* of course I'm teasing you *wink*
Seriously...its a very interesting subject Ray and you framed it very well..good exposure and DOF...want to see more....*smile*...Maggie
