About
This is an emense structure at the waterfront in Barrie Ontario, the feather like structures once moved with the wind it was quite the sight to behold. The artist is a local native commisioned by the city, after the sculpture was in place the local winds were such that they actually caused one or two of the feathers to fall. So the city hired a welder to fix them permanently in place. I chose this as my first attempt for an out of bounds subject
It's a very interesting statue...I'm interested in seeing it myself and learning more about its history. Maybe we could go see it when I visit ^_^ I wonder if there is a specific meaning to it, or if it's supposed to be interpreted in different ways? The feathers kind of resemble knives to me, and with the arms out stretched it's kind of like an invitation...perhaps it resembles a warrior, or a protector? The head also kind of looks like it has either a helmet or a halo, depending on the point of view, so it could also look spiritual or angelic-which goes along with the outlook on it of it being a protector. I like how you separated part of it from the background; it kind of leaps out of the portrait. Hee, I'm probably rambling ^_^; Ah well, anyway, I like it ^^ ~K
