This is our first, but hopefully not our last meeting on the pages of UF, Mr. Bayer. I read your bio and looked through your entire portfolio to and fro and fianally decided to comment on the presernt photo because of the woman in this candid one seems to be unaware of her photo being taken and hence her expression you captured is natural.
You are, of course, invited to read my bio and pay further visits to my portfolio.
In the meantime I thank you for your kind comment on my "Reflectred house in Tel Aviv."
Best regards,
Dr. Rafael (Rafi for future communications) Springmann

the light coming towards us forms a soft higlight around her shoulder(which could be noticed better if a darker background would be chosen)bu ti have to admit that her pose and the blurred background come together for this shot maybe in a diner shot during a road movie ;)

Hey bro,

I really envy your DOF effect here. great effect. the skin tones are really scary. makes martina look REALLY old IMHO. great lighting from the back, it seems that she is looking for the light beams and enjoys the warmth from the back. like the hinted person in the back. or is martina actually looking what the person behind is doing?

lots to watch and feel.
good work!
cheers,
T-bro

The cyan cast makes for associations of poor health which is otherwise belied in the photo and that tension turns me off a bit. I like the feel the colors promote otherwise, but I can't seem to shake that association.

Your photos are getting better and better every day Carlheinz. Blurry background with these excellent tones make this shot excellent. Murat

It's as if she's catching something interesting from the conversation behind, not sure but feels it's something about her or a friend or something close to heart, and she's wondering how to react.
That's it, that's what I see.
Cheers, Ian

your unique mood, again...
love the high contrast colour cast, heavily cyan-based, which perfectly sets into an excellent, carefully balanced composition.

Strange how the same photo can be seen so differently by so many.... While I realize that conventional observation would focus on the background, and the activity that is "out of focus", I find myself drawn completely to the subject in front. The textures and colors about her satisfy my appetite. This is really gooey good. ...Brad

Hi C, Not as extreme as what I'm only beginning to get used to, but definately as strong. I like the introvert and unposed atmosphere, where the very blurry background creates a wonderful tension. Being watched, yet relaxed. Very well balanced composition.... Very good shot.

I really like the different reactions this shot evokes. Completely contrasting (referring to Karen's description of the quarrel) but also a very believable possibility..... That's what makes this one so stong....

Cheers,

Hugo

The turn of the head tells so much ... or just leaves the view open to his/her imagination -- love the background. K

It appears to me to be a quarrel between the woman in the foreground, and other person in the background. Both of them have an expression of thinking. Such an interesting image-well done~
