This was taken last Sunday at Galway Bay on the west coast of Ireland during a free airshow. These are the famous Red Arrows flying fast in formation. I was shooting on 800 ASA film which was grand since those planes go at a shocking fast speed!!!
yeah they are difficult to capture alright. They move so fast! I was lucky to get the shots and will post some more "with" the coloured smoke trails. My photos are fine for my abilities but you should have seen the photo on the front page of yesterday's irish times: those pro photorgraphers really have all the angles covered! (check out www.ireland.com as the website may still have the photo on it)
Anyway, thanks again for the compliment and good luck with the photography.

Marvellous capture of an incredibly difficult subject Daithi. I tried it last year with a 5700 but the shutter lag meant they had to be so far away the results were disappointing. You've caught them well. Pity there's not any coloured smoke trails to give some colour to the left hand side but you can't have everything can you. Congrats Den
